Applications Engineer- CNC Machine Tools

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Pre-acceptance (QU.PM.004)

o Review project lineup documents/Info

o Look for previous similar designs

o Create design plan o Draft project program specification

o Review specification with customer (where possible)

o Draft NC program by operation

o Conduct reviews of NC program

o Make NC program edits

o NC Program verification (with simulation, if possible)

o Install NC programs in machines

o Install tools in machines

o Try out NC program

o Review inspection results. If necessary, troubleshoot / target process.

o Conduct capability runoffs at Heller and customer location

o Production support activities

o Customer service support

o Support training activities at Heller and Customer locations

• Logistics (ML.PM.005)

o File latest machine programs from the floor (after machine pre-acceptance)

• Installation (PR.PM.002)

o Save & file final NC Programs

o Conduct application final acceptance run-offs

• Service (SV.PM.001)

o Support troubleshooting issues over the phone with customer.

o Discuss and diagnose issue onsite with customer • Training o Technical support for customer training activities

• Travel

o 70% of total annual working hours

Process Owner Responsibilities:

• None. Education and Experience:

• Minimum 2-year degree. Manufacturing technology or equivalent experience

• Minimum 5 years machining or machine tool experience

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Hard Skills

o Ability to read and interpret blueprints

o Ability to read process illustration documentation

o Read and interpret CMM inspection reports

o Strong mechanical skills

o AutoCAD

o NC Programming

o Microsoft Office Product application capability (specifically Word, Excel, and Power point)

o Thorough understanding of HUS processes: Design (EM.PM.001), Build (PR.PM.001), Logistics (ML.PM.005) and Installation (PR.PM.002).

o Complete SPC runoffs

o Complete process capability within process time cycle specification

o Read and interpret cut view documentation

• Soft Skills

o Effective time management

o Effective communication with customer, design suppliers, ancillary equipment suppliers, project manager and employees

o Must be able to effectively communicate technical information

Training Requirements:

• Heller online training assignments

Quality:

• QMS (Quality Management System)

• Follow and support HUS process maps

• Follow support and use HUS procedures, work instructions and forms

Physical Demands:

• Some physical exertion required.

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend and move about the facility. Personal Protective Equipment:

• As specified by Heller handbook or other facility requirements. Work Environment:

• Works in an office environment with regular exposure to HUS and customer plants. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
