The Applications Engineer at Aqua-Chem performs a variety of complex technical assignments such as reviewing project specifications, selecting equipment, preparing cost estimates, generating proposals, and providing project support from quote request through shipping. The employee will provide technical support to sales during the proposal process including recommendations for value engineered propositions as well as specification compliant propositions. The employee will also be the technical expert in the area in which assigned.

Essential Duties:
Review project specifications compared to Standard product offerings
Develop Technical Clarifications/Exceptions list in response to quote requests.
Size equipment as needed (e.g., filters, softeners, evaporator systems, and reverse osmosis (RO) systems.
Develop project cost estimate.
Develop Proposals
Obtain technical quotes for non-standard equipment/components.
Develop Project P&ID.
Perform Calculations to meet Codes and Regulations.
Specify Non-Standard Valves and Instruments
Maintain assigned Standard product documentation and product designs.
Collaborate with technical members of the Project Team in a Matrix Organization including Project Engineers, Designers, Drafters, Technicians, and Electrical Engineers.
Develop a Process Functional Description for Non-Standard products.
Develop test procedures from specifications and standard test procedures.
Approve drawings/BOM's per established procedures with input from sketches, calculations, specifications, etc.
Assist performance testers in equipment setup and testing.
Prepare test reports as necessary for customers review and approval.
Review technical manuals for drawings and component literature.
Serve as technical expert for product(s) assigned; provide technical support to technical Project Team and Sales Team.
Attend tradeshows and/or conferences to support Sales group (~1-2x per year).
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Good interpersonal skills are required to interface with functional leaders across the company.
Candidate must be proficient in manipulating large amounts of cost data in MS Excel and other cost databases.
Able to work overtime as required.
Education / Experience:
4- year engineering degree (BSME or BSChE)
Preferably 10+ years of experience in the Life Sciences and/or Food and Beverage water purification.
