The IT Leader that fills this position will have an opporunity to partner with others to shape Symetra's long term Customer and Partner relationship management strategy. Symetra has a robust Salesforce implementation that enables our Retirement sales teams to maximize their productivity.
Our sales leaders have many great ideas to leverage AI, Voice Recognition, Machine Learning and other emerging technologies to drive this platform to the next level. Symetra also has multiple implementations of Microsoft's Dynamics CRM platform. Decisions need to be made regarding the future of Salesforce and Dynamics at Symetra and the person filling this job will be on the team making those decisions and their team will play a large role in the successful implementation of the chosen strategy.
In general, the Application Development Manager role is accountable for the IT Development team's technical direction as well as the development, maintenance, support and/or enhancement of a set of Symetra applications that support critical business functions. The applications developed and supported may either be a custom developed solution or a vendor provided packaged solution that requires a combination of development and configuration. This manager is also responsible for staff management, on-time and on-budget delivery, quality and availability of applications and services.
BS degree in a technical field.
Minimum Years of Related Work Experience Required:
3-6+ years of business/industry experience. 2-3 years of leadership experience. 2-5 years of people management experience, leading teams of 3-8 individuals.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Analytical skills and experience to discern the advantages and disadvantages of technology innovations and options to make recommendations and justify decisions. Proven ability to grasp complex technologies and concepts.
Understanding of technical architectures. Need strong understanding of application integration issues. Strong understanding of technical development environments.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies. Need to be "hands-on", detail oriented (not high level). Need to think "broad", but also the ability to do "deep dives" and pull information together. Understand application support processes/issues.
Education/Experience/Licensing Training/Skills/Abilities PREFERRED:
BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
