Applications Engineer II

The Applications Engineer is a dual role which supports both engineering and sales support. As such, the successful candidate must demonstrate effective prioritization of the workload and efficient time management skills in order to meet both internal and external customer expectations. This may include circumstances where internal and external customer expectations may not be aligned.

What You Do Matters:

  • Responsible for successful product design of Seals Products (Spring Energized and/or Rotary Lip seals, Rulon/Meldin Products, Injection molded products, etc) using knowledge of polymer , metallic, and elastomer materials and applying general engineering principles.

  • Visit customers as regional market expert, resolve complex customer issues, and assist in technical aspects of business development.

  • Support and lead Worldwide engineering initiatives (project management)

  • Work with R&D , Marketing, and Sales to commercialize newly developed products and write internal specifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Who You Are Matters:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Masters preferred

  • 3 + years experience in design engineering

  • Strong knowledge of high performance plastics, elastomers, and metallic spring materials.

  • Strong affinity for customer visits to evaluate their requirements and present solutions

  • Strong seal design experience in static and dynamic applications

  • Comfortable interpreting drawings of Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Aerospace, Pumps, Compressors and Valve equipment.

  • Able to interpret FEA outputs

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal communication .

  • Excellent teaching/training skills

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Able to work with Solid Works and AutoCad

  • Be the specification specialist (Aerospace, etc) and apply in design work

VIEW JOBS 3/9/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-07T00:00 Position description This position is responsible for implement cost effective manufacturing processes in injection molding in accordance with operating standards, product and quality specifications. This includes tool/die design, new product development and troubleshooting. Will develop work environments to provide reasonable accommodations taking into account safe work practices. Primary duties include: * Consistently reviews existing manufacturing processes and, by using technical tools (VSM, VA/NVA, Six Sigma), provides problem resolution and provides employee training to the process. Leads and/or performs process and mold qualifications to validation protocols and optimizes process variables. * Works both independently and with a team solving complex problems to improve efficiency, quality and cost-reduction. * Prepares and maintains detailed records of manufacturing to identify areas of improvement. * Designs other Process Systems products as requested. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * BS Degree in Engineering required; BS Degree in Plastics Engineering preferred. * Requires minimum of four years engineering experience in product manufacturing. * Requires minimum of two years experience using CAD system (Solidworks preferred). * At least one year of experience in integration automation preferred. * Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Powerpoint, Visio; advanced proficiency in MS Excel. * Strong communication skills (both verbal and written). * Requires statistical process control experience and ability to do statistical analysis of data (e.g. Cpk and Gauge R & R). * Ability to interpret engineering drawings (G, D & T, etc.) * Capability to start-up and debug equipment and processes, conduct trials and functional tests to identify risks. * Demonstrated knowledge in technical area of competence managing small projects utilizing basic automation and/or technical integration. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
