The Corporate Technology Services (CTS) organization is responsible for AB's end user technology, workplace technology and corporate systems. CTS is a face-to-face client focused organization that works closely with all IT counterparts, as well as the business to deliver enterprise wide products, services and support. Teams within CTS include End User Technology, the IT Service Desk, Service Delivery Management, Corporate Financial Systems, Corporate Systems, Audio Visual Services, IT Product Management and Technology User Experience. CTS is a global organization of 150+ members located across 15+ AB offices and reports to the Chief Technology Officer.
Corporate Financial Systems (CFS) provides project management, business analysis, system administration, software development, QA, and production support for AB's corporate financial functions globally including Corporate Controller's group (Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, P2P), Financial Planning & Analysis, Assets Under Management (AUM) Reporting, Client Billing, Advisor Compensation, Revenue Accounting & Reporting, Tax, Treasury and IT Finance. CFS manages internally developed applications and services, internally hosted third-party applications and externally hosted SAAS solutions.
Describe the role:The Applications Database Architect will be responsible for the overarching database architecture across all proprietary CFS applications, establishing and enforcing database design and development standards/guidelines and mentor/guide the CFS teams with their database development efforts. The individual will regularly interact with Corporate Financial Systems IT and Business leadership to design and deliver solutions for the CFS team. The role will report into the CFS manager for systems supporting the business areas of Assets Under Management Reporting, Client Billing and Advisor Compensation.
Describe the applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports:The role will be directly responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the Assets Under Management Reporting, Private Client Billing and Private Client Advisor Compensation applications. In addition, the role will have oversight of the database architecture across all CFS Applications, monitor/guide all CFS teams with design of new applications/processes and redesign of existing applications for performance or platform-migrations. The primary business departments that are supported by CFS are: Corporate Controller's group (Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, P2P), Financial Planning & Analysis, Assets Under Management (AUM) Reporting, Client Billing, Advisor Compensation, Revenue Accounting & Reporting and IT Finance. The proprietary applications are primarily developed in Sybase/Oracle/SQL Server, Informatica/Linux/Perl and.Net/C#/Java. All proprietary applications are on a migration path to SQL Server/.Net/C# platform.
Responsible for the overall database architecture across CFS applications.
Directly responsible for design, development and maintenance of Assets Under Management Reporting, Private Client Billing and Private Client Advisor Compensation applications.
Establish and enforce database development standards and guidelines for the CFS teams.
Manage database platform migrations for the CFS teams.
Assist CFS team members with performance tuning and redesign efforts.
Analyze the effect of making application/server/database level configuration changes to the environment.??
Collaborate with the business leads and infrastructure teams to understand requirements and help design solutions.
Assist CFS teams to come up with tools and methodologies to test for gaps, mitigate risk and address regulatory requirements.
Mentor, coach and guide CFS team members (onshore / offshore) on design/development/testing/deployment standards.
Learn new technologies and methodologies and mentor the CFS teams on its usage
Coordinate between CFS teams and the database infrastructure teams in sizing and configurations of CFS application databases
Participate in the hiring of new CFS team members (onshore/offshore).

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field
15+ years of relevant experience in Oracle/SQL server design, development and support.
Experience working on large multitier database/data-warehouse applications with OLTP/batch processing
Experience with Unix/Linux and scripting (Perl/Shell).
Experience with database performance tuning, exception handling and trouble-shooting.
Experience in architecting/designing applications and implementations of localized and enterprise wide solutions.
Thorough knowledge of database/data-warehouse design along with department wide solution implementations
Knowledge/Experience of PowerShell scripting, Microsoft Azure a plus.
Experience within the Financial Services industry highly preferred
