Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to provide business analysis, system analysis, programming, and production support to complex systems within the organizational unit. The role of this position may include, but is not limited to: leading or participating in requirement gathering sessions, developing requirements, designing new complex programs, analyzing and modifying existing programs, debugging multifaceted programs, performing system administration/configuration, writing specifications, leading or participating in code review, writing test plans and conducting testing; producing deliverables for all phases of the software development lifecycle from functional requirements through final implementation; providing production application support; participating in effort planning with clients, technical leads, and organizational unit management; conducting planning sessions with clients for specific modifications and enhancements to intricate applications; status reporting; monitoring work efforts for quality assurance; ensuring adherence to procedures; and performing advanced application assessment and performance monitoring in order to identify and correct avoidable production interruption. This position will provide project and task status to the IS Director and also work in coordination with the Networking and Service Desk Team to resolve issues and develop solutions. In addition, all members of the JIRDC IS team are responsible for assisting the facility and staff in complying with the HIPAA Security policies and Security Standards.

Additional duties include but are not limited to: test application code; troubleshoot problems reported by users; write and maintain system workflows based on user requirements; write technical documentation; maintain knowledge of emerging development techniques.

This position works 8:00 am

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to complete work on time and with only general supervision

  • Ability to learn new software systems and programming languages.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or

Bachelor's degree and some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development; or

Associate's degree in Computer Programming from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.

VIEW JOBS 1/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-17T00:00 Description of Work This position will provide engineering, supervisory and administrative services necessary to support: 1) the day-to-day operation and facilities of the Adaptive Equipment Shop and technical personnel, 2) product design and application and 3) Research and Development of promising engineering concepts. Adaptive Equipment Shop supervisory activities may include scheduling, purchasing, training, safety reviews, performance reviews, equipment reviews, etc. Across the board administrative duties may include collaboration with other engineers and technical personnel, design systems and documentation, purchase order and warranty management, materials and acquisition management, maintaining specifications and guidelines libraries, and various project management activities. Some project activities will support the design, research and development of new ideas and concepts that hold potential for positive outcomes within the scope of rehabilitation engineering and development. Additionally, considerable project collaboration with other professional departments and staff such as Medical, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Patient Direct Care, is necessary in order to produce successful outcomes. Other responsibilities will include the use and management of CAD systems software and equipment in which the development of intricate drawings and specifications may be generated. The results of these plans will be used for the creation and modification of specialized adaptive equipment to enable maximum independence for individuals with disabilities. The position provides these services by applying engineering principles and state of the art technology to problem solve countless barriers that exist for persons with disabilities. Design responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: complete wheelchair design and customization, adaptive seating design or modifications to maximize health, comfort, independence and travel; resident safety equipment as related to customized helmets, beds, rooms and electronic monitoring systems; special jigs and fixtures that enable residents to participate in vocational training, as well as, developing self-help and other independent living skills; adaptive computer devices to facilitate communication and other rehabilitative activities; ergonomic and safety alterations for staff and client work stations. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3)years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
