Summary of Duties:

Join our onsite team as a Laboratory Systems Analyst/Developer within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State university for the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) and the clinical pathology laboratory within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and be part of a dynamic and innovative environment that is at the forefront of safeguarding animal health and public safety. In this role, you will have the opportunity contribute to vital research and diagnostics that have a real-world impact on animal and human health. You'll work with accomplished faculty and staff to design and develop laboratory information systems and assist them in the utilization of laboratory data and cutting-edge technologies. Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years professional experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Able to work occasional weekends and evenings.

  • The successful applicant will also be required to sign a confidentiality statement to protect the privacy of laboratory test results to the extent allowed by law.

  • Experience planning, analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing software applications.

  • Experience researching technologies that increase an organization's efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Experience working with applications that utilize relational databases.

  • Experience with programming languages and database management.

  • Experience writing queries and determining the best way to present information.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Self-starter and willingness to take full ownership and drive projects and tasks to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science, management information systems, or relevant field

  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)

  • Experience working in a diagnostic laboratory or a medical environment.

  • Experience with the design and implementation of laboratory instrument integrations.

  • Experience with C#, .net core, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Experience with SQL Server and MySQL.

  • Experience working with version control such as Git or Subversion and deployment pipelines.

  • Experience with project management tools and techniques.

  • Understanding of common terminology standards like LOINC and SNOMED.

  • Experience developing standard operating procedures, technical documents, and diagrams.

  • Experience using a quality management system.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools like Quicksight, Tableau, and Power BI.

Monthly Salary:

$6,250.00 - $8,333.33 | Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
