Spire is seeking an Application Support System Analyst III to work in the Houston, TX location. This position will be responsible for serving as the primary subject matter expert for technical and business driven applications in support of the Spire Marketing team.

Primary duties:

  • Thorough knowledge of business processes in assigned area of responsibility

  • Act as lead IT representative for ETRM related applications and processes

  • Ensure ITS change management policies and procedures are followed as they relate to the ETRM related systems

  • Perform initial positive and negative testing for solutions prior to releasing for user acceptance testing

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology features as needed to support business goals

  • Write documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections

  • Proactively work with ETRM vendor to maintain health of the ETRM environments

  • Recommend patches, upgrades, and configuration changes

  • Create support requests and work with vendor support teams, as needed, for defects, upgrades, etc.

  • Practice effective organizational and analytical skills

  • Update and maintain internal software documentation.

  • Create and update reports; implement changes to report.

  • Provide user security reports for audit.

  • Reading technical manuals, confers with users, conduct system diagnostics, and provide technical assistance.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-moving and changing culture

  • All other duties as assigned


  • 5+ years of experience IT related experience

  • 5+ years of Systems Analysis experience

  • 5+ years of project related experience

  • 3+ years of experience with Windows Server

  • 3+ Report Writing experience

  • Strong experience working with PL/SQL and SQL

  • Experience with Oracle Database

  • Experience with versioning software is preferred

  • Experience with commodity trading and risk platforms required (Endure preferred)

  • Tableau experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows Server.

  • Experience with SQL and report building

  • Willing to learn new skills and modules

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or comparable work experience and certification

Work environment:

  • Normal Work Environment - Work is normally performed in a shared office environment-make changes to this depending upon the position requirements.

  • Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Overtime and travel may be required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Installs and Maintains multi-platform software, hardware and databases, and Maintains multi-platform software to specified version/release levels, ensuring availability and efficiency. 2. Ensures procedures are documented for future problem tracking and reference for future installation and maintenance projects. 3. Analyzes failures of multi-platform software, hardware and databases and Implements corrective procedures for these failures with detailed problem tracking documentation. 4. Provides backup and recovery procedures for multi-platform software, hardware and databases and Ensures documentation of procedures are established to ensure disaster recovery Functions. 5. Performs departmental administrative tasks, such as writing status reports on time, keeping the Software Manager informed of requests from application teams for staffing needs, managing various projects assigned by the Software Manager, maintaining operational procedures and documentation, and etc. 6. Monitors and tunes multi-platform software and hardware systems, and collects and analyzes computer performance data, ensuring all muti-platform software and hardware systems are running at maximum efficiency, and documents and submits capacity and trend analysis reports to IS Management. 6.
