Application Support IT Engineer III

Description/Duties

The City of Mesa's Department of Innovation and Technology is hiring an Application Support IT Engineer III who will be responsible for providing user support, system maintenance, and administration for multiple applications that make up our web infrastructure, eCommerce, and Enterprise Monitoring portfolio.

TheApplication Support IT Engineer IIIwill provide day-to-day application support as part of a team responsible for supporting a variety of 3rd party applications, as well as management of infrastructure for full-stack and micro-services-based solutions. The position will participate in the installation and configuration of environments, manage patches, upgrades, and conduct platform optimization.

The position leads and participates in design, development, and support of monitoring standards, developing automation to support operational activities, like certificate deployment. Employees in this class are required to participate in the team on-call support rotation and is also responsible for performing related duties as required.

An Application Support IT Engineer III is responsible for leading and participating in project related activities, including assisting customers in new project definition, design and development, testing, and deployment; provide key input and support into technical designs based experience and industry standards; monitors systems and infrastructure to ensure support continued availability, effectiveness, and risk compliance. This class has a high level of responsibility for supported systems and projects, and is responsible for the success of projects and operational systems of any size.

The Application Support IT Engineer III class is responsible for providing technical mentoring to Application Support IT Engineer I's and II's. This class is FLSA exempt- computer professional.

About the Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have familiarity and experience with Windows and Linux Administration and knowledge of container-based applications (Docker, Kubernetes, NGINX, and Apache) management; scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash; Redhat, JBOSS, Apache Tomcat, Webserver application platform, Microsoft IIS, and Microsoft .NET framework.

The candidate will have knowledge of or experience with network, proxy, and firewalls; payment processing and merchant services including card present, IVR and Web, as well as PCI compliance. Experience with HTML and CSS, Oracle application server, Oracle SOA suite, PHP, Python, IBM Infosphere, node.js and payment processors such as PayPal, Elavon (Converge and Fusebox), Hosted PCI is a plus.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications Required. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, such as Engineering or Geography (by assignment). Considerable (3 - 5 years) computer systems experience in at least one of the following technical support areas: Applications, Database, Desktop, GIS, Network, Security, Server, or Web Support.

Special Requirements. For this position, an individual receiving a conditional offer of employment from the City of Mesa must pass a background investigation through the City of Mesa Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to commencing employment with the City of Mesa.
