At Camelot Global we build and deliver our interactive platform for lottery gaming, including the National Lottery website, Mobile channels and an increasing suite of other products for our International client base. Camelot Global Services North America (CGSNA) in downtown Chicago, IL is currently expanding and requires a few skilled Application Support Engineers to operate, support and improve this platform going forwards. We are expanding our portfolio with a new platform of products and software services and will be running this platform as a managed service for customers both in Europe and North America.

About our Team

We perform the analysis and logical design for Camelot Global Services North America (CGSNA) programs of work for all of our customers. That means engaging with our stakeholders, understanding their environment and business needs and working with our various teams to delivery first-class solutions.

We work on a broad variety of exciting and challenging projects including large transition programs, product implementations, new channel developments, new game launches and a variety of consultancy assignments. Our team specialize in gaming and technology solutions and are Camelots front-line for its customers. As our customer base grows and our products mature we are expanding our team and are looking for new team members that can compliment our team with new ideas and techniques.

Position

Overview:

The Application Support Engineer will be a vital part of the Managed Services & Support team, and will be working alongside both App Support Engineers and Developers within in the team and also a diverse mix of software developers, QA engineers and DevOps Engineers in other departments. You will be responsible for operating, monitoring, deploying, and supporting the infrastructure, systems and processes used to run the lottery platform.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with the Release Manager, DevOps Engineers and other App Support Engineers to support Camelot Globals iLottery platform.
  • Play a crucial role in operating the platform for multiple customers, both in pre- and post-live settings.
  • Proactively ensure the platform runs efficiently and within capacity parameters.
  • Provide investigation into platform issues.
  • Be part of an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours platform support.
  • Improve monitoring and alerting solutions for the platform.
  • Work with our globally distributed development teams to help build and deliver software to multiple clients.
  • Keep customers and stakeholders up-to-date with progress of investigations.

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2 plus years experience of working in a DevOps environment, with familiarity in software development and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated real-world working environment Linux skills (CoreOS is a plus).
  • Experience running software in an production environment.
  • Experience of working on multiple varied projects and delivering on required timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

Basics

Technical Skills:
  • Experience running distributed, loosely coupled web applications.
  • Experience running and troubleshooting software written in Java and gathering JVM insights for troubleshooting, tuning.
  • Basic networking knowledge (BGP experience is a plus), HTTP and other internet protocols are a must.
  • Programming and scripting skills in: Bash, Python, use of GIT SCM.
  • Experience with database systems (relational and/or nosql).

A strong level of understanding:

  • Linux Containers, Docker and associated ecosystem of tools or other similar technologies.
  • Prometheus or similar time-series database and monitoring solutions.
  • ElasticSearch or similar search engines.
  • Building dashboards based on Grafana and Kibana or similar tools and gathering actionable insights.
