Provide support to office or business unit users of proprietary or custom application software. Answer technical questions, troubleshoot problems, and guide users to gain productive use of software. May extract data, format and run reports, or perform specific analytical functions using application. May have substantial subject matter knowledge of business unit discipline. Includes both staff in corporate facility supporting use of business-specific applications to corporate staff, or staff providing product support to customers using proprietary software.


  • Study business processes in client or host unit and how they are automated. Examine business processes in unit to determine how they could be translated into requirements for IT applications.

  • Develop data extractions or develop reports from requests or requirements stated by clients. Use database, report writer, data mart, or specialized applications to generate reports or analyses.

  • May support application(s) in production. Note interruptions or bugs in operation and perform problem solving exercise to determine problem and ensure continued use of the application, or confer with less senior staff attempting to restore job or report.

  • Participate in project meetings to plan rewrite of addition to application in production or being revised for release into production. May serve as project lead in project to plan revisions to application.

  • Track production issues and report periodically to group charged with monitoring uptime and efficiency of production application.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required


  • 4 years of related experience

  • Responsible for communicating current issues to team members and management.

  • Maintain and demonstrates strong technical expertise in key technologies. This includes areas such as: OS, browsers, proxy, Outlook, O365, VPN, Microsoft Mobile Applications, SCCM, and the like.

  • Maintain familiarity with current and upcoming technology trends in technology.

  • Obtains subject matter expert level understanding of multiple critical technology systems and business processes.

  • Able to work directly with other technology groups to communicate problems and find resolution.

  • Identify knowledge gaps and proactively engages management for training.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of skill in areas of teamwork and interpersonal relationships, including effective communication skills.

We are seeking an Application Support Specialist - Help Desk Analyst, who currently lives in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, to join our project team supporting a Federal agency. US Citizenship and the ability to pass a Federal government clearance are required for this position. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide professional, capable Tier 2 end-user support for a high visibility, web-based application * Support the development team with issue reproduction and analysis for Tier 3 issues * Train Tier 1 Help Desk staff on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for basic system issues * Support the project/client in developing and maintaining both technical and procedural documentation, including written SOPs for Help Desk staff and end-user documentation for use by system users * Develop and lead system training for end users * Functional understanding and use of a Help Desk software (e.g. Remedy, JIRA) * The ability to delineate the importance of Trouble Tickets based on issues and prioritize responses accordingly. * Technology conversant - possess a general understanding of IT terms & technology * Assist in evolving the standards of Help Desk Support * Demonstrates an ability to learn and contribute quickly to project requirements * Demonstrates an ability to prioritize and organize efforts in a fast-paced environment * Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, creativity and a customer service-orientated personality * Exceptional interactive skills (verbal & written) * A "can-do" attitude that his proactive and solutions oriented * Initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * Minimum 3 years Help Desk experience in a Federal government environment providing application support for both COTS and in-house applications * At least 1 year working in a lead and/or senior capacity * Experience working as a member of a Help Desk team on a Tier II and/or Tier III level * Comprehensive understanding of customer service and support principals * Comfort collaborating with users and team members to define needs * Experience writing Help Desk related policies and procedures EDUCATION: * Bachelor's Degree Naturally, TCG does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or anything else that makes you part of any group.
