Plan and design methods for the optimization and integration of various forms of technology systems or policies and high level principals. Apply varied engineering and design theories to produce robust, integrated functioning of various systems, technology interfaces, and/or overarching information policies and high level principles. Assess functioning of overall technology and communications systems and end-to-end processes and to look for ways to upgrade and optimize systems and processes in the future. Work across the architecture and technology organization to ensure effective implementation, architecture compliance and conflict resolution. May participate in projects to upgrade or install workstations, networks, or software, or to assess and optimize overall functioning of technology, data and processes.


  • May serve as lead or technical expert to define and maintain the architectural frameworks/patterns, processes, standards and guidelines related to systems, business or data architecture.

  • Define core and support technology, data entities, business functions and/or subject areas that transcend organizational and functional boundaries.

  • Provide technical and architectural subject matter expertise to the various development teams including communicating architectural decisions and mentoring other technical staff around the various development technologies and decisions.

  • Identify core common data shared across the enterprise and participate in enterprise wide efforts to reach common understanding of those data.

  • May serve as lead, technical expert or project manager to team(s) concerned with development, networking and/or project management to coordinate changes and support enterprise technology initiatives.

  • Conduct studies of new technologies to provide more efficient and cost effective architecture solutions

  • Oversee multiple projects in order to preserve the architectural vision and protect stakeholder interests as well as to meeet operational and financial reporting requirements

  • Confer with business units and application development staff to understand both the business and technical requirements and to define architectural constraints

  • Create performance metrics and traceability maps to determine the effectiveness of architecture solutions and facilitate governance. Keep abreast of relevant architecture best practices.

  • May review work of other team members and mentor junior architects


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required


  • 6 years of related experience


  • Understanding of the OWASP Top 10 application security risks and how to address them.

  • Design and implementation knowledge of AWS and private cloud computing platform offerings and security related services.

  • Hands on experience with encryption, hashing, secure random number generation, key derivation, key management, digital signatures, etc. in one or more major development languages.

  • General understanding of local security standards, regulatory compliance and how it relates to application security and privacy.

  • Foundational and functional understanding of how API works (RESTful, SOAP) .

  • Understanding of API security - specifically on common controls for API security (SSO, OAuth, Threat Protection) .

  • Security elements of API gateway integrations of API - WAF, Websockets.

  • AWS architecture experience with application integration with AWS IAM and AWS KMS.

  • Core understanding of web application security scanning software and related penetration testing tools.

  • Experience designing, developing, or customizing application authentication and authorization systems.

  • Understanding of API security - specifically on common controls for API security (SSO, OAuth, Threat Protection)

  • Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities and respond with urgency.

  • Development background particularly building enterprise applications (Java Preferably)

The Candidate shall have extensive technical expertise as a data architect. The Candidate shall be able to provide updates and patches for the Client, troubleshoot errors, and work directly with the Client to maintain connectivity and service; advise the Client's organization that oversees the implementation of all legacy and new systems; analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems; review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations, and analyze or recommend commercially available software to support user requirements for hosting on Client's cloud environment. The Candidate shall act as an advisor and propose changes to the Client's enterprise technical architecture between proposed IT systems, enterprise quality, security standards, and design and develop proposed plan to present to the approval boards. The Candidate support shall include serving as the senior technical referent for Applications and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of applications, databases and websites within the IT Architecture of the Client. The Candidate shall be responsible for directing and monitoring the strategic technical planning for the implementation and maintenance of applications, databases and web applications in support of current and future mission needs. The Candidate will work collaboratively with Client's senior management to develop and implement long-range plans, assess project and program feasibility, perform cost versus benefit analysis, prioritize projects and initiatives, and make major architectural design decisions. Duties include reviewing application/systems architecture and designs to assess risk, trade-offs and alternative solutions; coordinating with the data architects to ensure the synchronization of organizational data; and developing and implementing system plans that address the information requirements of the enterprise. This includes analyzing user needs and developing, creating, and modifying general computer applications/software or specialized utility programs and solutions to match. OPTIONAL SKILLS: Demonstrated experience engineering natural language processing and machine learning techniques into automated workflows. (Example techniques include clustering, ontologies and topic modeling, entity extraction Latent Semantic Indexing, and collaborative filtering.) Demonstrated experience working with data science tools technologies. Demonstrated experience developing non-traditional or innovative means of applying technical solutions to difficult analytic problems. Demonstrated experience working and applying creativity in a fast paced environment. Demonstrated experience with coordination and facilitation of meetings and technical discussions of requirements; tracking project status, plans, action items and drafting meeting minutes. Demonstrated experience with AWS Data Pipeline. Demonstrated experience with Presto, Hive, Hadoop, and Cloudera. Demonstrated experience with Apache Spark.
