General Summary

The Application Engineer has the primary responsibility for representing the company via technical and application support of particular products and working with sales to achieve design-in of Murata's products. This position is also responsible for understanding and representing general technical aspects of all products marketed by the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitates design-in opportunities by providing competent and effective technical and application support to customers

  • Recognizes and defines opportunities for new products

  • Suggests changes to existing products to meet changing market needs

  • Conducts product promotion for the assigned products, in cooperation with local sales resources and product divisions, to ensure product life-cycle, (introduction, emerging, mature, and declining products) matches to the maturity of the customer program(s)

  • Assists in positioning Murata as the acknowledged technical leader in North America by authoring application guides and technical papers

  • Visits customers, as required, to achieve design-in and total customer satisfaction

  • Provides product training by creating materials and delivering presentations

  • Assists in establishing strategic pricing for assigned products

  • Researches new markets to develop new business

  • Provides support for technical issues and to resolve quality claims with Quality Assurance department

  • Assists with business plans and forecasts

Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities

  • May support the preparation of PPAPs and IC characterizations, as directed

  • Performs other job-related responsibilities and duties as may be assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Inquisitive and innovative approach to new technologies in the marketplace

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Some experience working on projects preferred

  • Demonstrated time management skills to complete multiple assignments

  • Demonstrated success with cross-functional collaboration

  • Adaptable to consistently handle ever-changing conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of related work experience

  • Knowledge of marketing principles

  • Some experience working on projects

  • Experience selling electrical components through various sales channels


Infrequent domestic travel
