The Smart Automation Division of Fives specializes in providing smart, scalable, and future-proof solutions for sorting, handling, and advanced automation. The division has approximately 1,700 employees worldwide working in about 20 locations in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Fives designs and supplies world-class material handling and sorting solutions for the Intralogistics sector to serve global leaders in the shipping industry such as Fed Ex, UPS, and DHL. The Group and its Intralogistics dedicated teams - around 500 people in France, Italy, China, Japan, Korea and the United States - automate internal logistics streams for postal and courier companies, distribution centers, and baggage handling systems.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reviews customers' requirements and proposes solutions to customer needs with regard to sorting systems. Manages activities as they relate to analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services. Responsible for the technical solution for the project from concept to final acceptance by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyses customer requests and proposes solutions to meet customer needs. Ensures that the solution being proposed to the customer is sound, competitive, and meets the specifications with respect to technical performance.

  • Participate in customer meetings with sales to gather information and analyze the requirements.

  • Review bids for specifications, acceptance criteria, and accuracy of the proposals to ensure the technical solution is properly represented.

  • Advises Project Management and Senior Management on the 'bid no bid' process as to the feasibility of the customer request.

  • Review and analyze proposals submitted to determine the beneficial derivatives and possible applications to justify expenditures.

  • Review incoming proposals including contracts, terms and conditions, and statements of work to determine risk factors and areas of concern. Works with the project management and sales to create project budgets to minimize risks and protect gross margins.

  • Responsible for proposal development as required, technical input, system description of operation (D of O), proposal manifest/equipment list, and all customer-required technical documents.

  • Responsible for the acceptance testing procedure and terms proposed for the project. Also responsible for the final acceptance testing at the end of the project assigned. This includes field supervision of personnel and verification of the results.

  • Implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures as well as Systems solutions, progress reports, and schedules to inform management of the current status of projects.

  • Proposes new solutions and components for the Product Development Department to develop that would open new markets and or increase the competitiveness of the proposals

  • Leads and drives the estimating process through the organization.

  • Works closely with operations, engineering, and sales teams to understand and help develop the best solution to meet the customers' requirements and expectations.

  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hours and related cost data or effect cost reductions.

  • Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

Education and/or Experience

1.Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year College or university.

2.A minimum of two years of related experience and/or training.

3.Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

4.Knowledge in the distribution and order assembly process and/or knowledge in the postal sorting process and/or knowledge in the courier sorting process.

5.Ability to use AutoCAD proficiently.
