Summary:

The candidate will assist NORD in growing sales of control products by utilizing their experience in applying high performance AC vector drives communicating with PLCs in automated systems over a variety of network protocols with a focus on converting high volume target accounts. Be a technical expert for NORD employees and customers on related NORD products and applications. Execute projects through accuracy of product selection, dissemination of knowledge and assistance in product sales effort as required.

Description:

Provide technical expertise in the Control Products group for application of NORD AC vector drives in a variety of applications.
Travel to domestic sites as required for sales presentations, evaluation of customer needs, application verification assistance, and technical support.
Give pre-sale selection and application assistance for AC vector drives and inverter/vector duty motors.
Assist the Product Manager in the creation of sales tools, marketing documentation, and product launches related to NORD AC vector drives.
Provide product training to NORD US sales force and customers.
Provide ongoing input to Engineering and Quality at NORD in Germany on product issues.
Provide post-sales support, both via phone and in person when required.
Identify and implement system and process improvements.
Be an active participant in the company's suggestion, quality, efficiency and cost-saving programs!

Qualifications:

BSEE, BSET, or BSME or equivalent experience.
5-7 years in the application and integration of AC Vector Drives and/or related components into automation systems communicating via a variety of networks including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, AS-Interface, and EtherCAT.
Knowledgeable in related power and automation system components such as motors, reducers, HMIs, I/O components.
Experience in applying AC vector drives in closed-loop position control applications.
Has worked with volume OEM accounts.
Familiar with standard industrial sales channels and customer classes.
Experience with PLC programming and network automation is preferred.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities. Strong analytic and problem-solving skills. Strong organization & time management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good listener. Customer focused. Effective worker under light supervision.
Ability to travel up to 40%.

Concentrates on high level designs of schematics and PCBs using CAD. Creates and modifies Carel controller and microprocessor programs. Receives high degree of input from project manager for major projects, leads small projects. Performs lab testing to determine root causes of issues and implements solutions. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Proactive, integral member of specific new-product development teams as well as product improvement projects. This will often include generating elements of design. Conducts preparation of electrical schematics, modification of controller programs, and building prototypes for products under development. * Uses Solid Works Electrical to create and modify schematics. * Designs parts and products for achievement of project goals, ease of manufacturing, reduced cost, and use of common parts. * Investigates and resolves problems with parts fit and function, or improve function or ease of assembly generally at productions request. (Support weekly change meeting process). * Has ability to develop in-depth product knowledge in order to quickly provide design changes on product improvement projects. * Develops part drawings per RenewAire drafting practices. * Works with manufacturing to develop processes and process improvements. * Follows administrative functions and prepares necessary forms to be used in the new product release process i.e. item masters, change control process, etc. * Works with materials team to obtain quotations and vendor qualifications. * Works with manufacturing team to design for manufacturability. * Prepares drawings for use in product literature and marketing needs. * Searches out new components, hardware, etc. for use in new products or to improve existing products. * Acts as point of contact for clarification of existing part drawings for vendor use. Explains drawing to vendor, revise drawing to remove ambiguity, or change part. Issues part revision where appropriate. * Acts as point of contact for technical support to resolve customer field issues. * Stays technically current of new developments in technologies used in our products. * All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * BS Electrical Engineering or BS Engineering Technology with 3-5 years' experience * SolidWorks Electrical experience desired * Minimum 3-5 years CAD design experience (SolidWorks experience desired, a solid knowledge of CAD Software) * Previous experience designing heating, cooling, fan or blower equipment preferred * Product testing aptitude and experience a plus * Intermediate to advanced technical design skills including SolidWorks Electrical experience * An excellent grasp of engineering and design principles * Intermediate level Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook skills * An understanding of manufacturing processes * An appreciation of business demands, the ability to meet deadlines COMPETENCIES * Strong problem-solving skills * Detail oriented with strong written and oral communication, organizational and analytical skills * Good team working skills * Ability to independently work with minimal amounts of supervision and to participate and contribute positively in work teams. * A creative approach for generating new ideas * Interpersonal skills (relationship building, teamwork, interpersonal insight, conflict resolution, customer orientation) * Communication (verbal communication, listening, written communication). * Judgment and thinking (original thinking, judgment and decision making, problem solving) * Performance skills (technical, accuracy with detail, planning and organizing, efficiency) * Personal characteristics (motivation/commitment, flexibility, assertiveness, resilience) PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
