The Role:

The AE conducts pre-sales feasibility studies, customer presentations, and on-site trials, as well as post-sales installation support and training. The AE determines the right combination of Cognex vision or ID hardware, lighting, optics and programming and demonstrates an optimum solution. A Senior AE works on the higher-profile and more challenging sales opportunities.

Essential Functions:

  • Use CRM (SalesBook) for all aspects of the sales support process

  • Timely and efficient completion of pre-sales evaluations:Gather specifications/samples, determine optimal hardware and software configuration, test/verify solution.

  • Install trial systems to demonstrate to customers that Cognex equipment works as expected.

  • Serve as Cognex product expert.Respond to technical questions from customers and salespeople.

  • Support technical seminars and trade shows

  • Provide product feedback to AE Manager and Business Units

  • Perform on-site post-sales installation support and training as necessary

  • Complement the Logistics Service group as a local installation resource

  • Timely and accurate expense reporting and trip documentation

  • Continuous improvement of competencies in Skills Matrix.

  • The AE is involved in higher-profile and more challenging sales opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong presentation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Sensitive to sales cycle and able to handle challenging customer situations.

  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical and industrial automation systems.

  • PC literate with a working knowledge of MS Windows applications.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.

  • Ability to travel 30% of the time should be willing to travel on short notice.

Minimum education and work experience required:

  • B.S. degree, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 3-5 years' experience in related Sales Support functions.

  • Knowledge of optics and lighting for machine vision is required.

  • Working knowledge of PLC's and factory automation is required.

  • .NET (C#) programming experience is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity such as customer meetings and product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations * Work independently to analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of a customers' current infrastructure, operations, and engineering workflows * Create and demonstrate simulation solutions to streamline customer workflows, in support of the software sales process; sales cycle/process will be broad and complex in nature * Participate in internal corporate initiatives to further enhance the solution suites, presales/sales enablement and professional growth; actively participate in the development and mentoring of team members * Responsible for articulating ANSYS' value proposition which may encompass its entire suite of products; the presentations must affirm the sales message, differentiate ANSYS, and leave a strong and positive impression to audiences which can include senior company executives * Instruct intermediate and/or advanced training classes on the usage of ANSYS simulation products * Create elegant and useful solutions to solve complex problems by working across various teams and understanding the needs of our customers * Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline * A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering software environment * Demonstrated use of relevant ANSYS software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA software packages * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers * Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives * Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English * Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer * Projects a professional image and strong business acumen during customer interactions * Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills * Other specialty-specific required skills as necessary for posting (Mechanical, Structural, EM, etc) * Capable of holding security clearances PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * MS or PhD degree preferred * A minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering software environment preferred * Must have passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance * Must have customer service aptitude and maintain customer focus * Ability to travel up to 60% * Other specialty-specific preferred skills as necessary for posting CULTURE AND VALUES Culture and values are incredibly important to ANSYS.
