Autoliv is currently looking for an Application Engineer and Application Global Product Management (GPM) Leader focusing on seatbelt development at its Auburn Hills Technical Center. As a member of the Seatbelt Robustness team, this Engineer will be responsible to ensure that Autoliv develops and implements robust seatbelt components. This will be done with the use of application GPM and robust problem resolution. This Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance and implementation of the master drawings for application GPM components and will help develop and implement innovative solutions to chronic seatbelt design concerns.
Execution and completion of seatbelt robustness projects according to timing established by regional seatbelt management team.
Interact with Autoliv's global technical centers and other regional and global organizations of quality, industrial engineering, purchasing and project management.
Solve difficult engineering problems using tools such as DOE, Stress vs. Strain, FEA, 8D and DRBFM.
Build engineering prediction models to help estimate outcomes and ensure our products are robust and perform as expected in all situations.
Develop reliability evaluation methods that represent real world conditions.
Develop and disseminate reliability methods and lessons learned into applicable design standards and test specifications.
Work closely with the Global Product Management team to manage usage of specified commodities.
Part design and review for implementation of application GPM.
Support in design recommendations and launch of products under the control application GPM.
Root cause analysis and problem solving of seat belt issues.
Lead and participate as member of several Application GPM teams to create and maintain master drawings and ensure the implementation of the GPM initiatives for robust product design.
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience as an Engineer in the Automotive Industry
Proven hands-on mechanical engineering experience, preferably in seatbelt systems
Working knowledge of DOE, Stress vs. Strain (FEA, DRBFM, 8D)
Experience with directing a design team based on drawing specifications
Experience supporting cross-functional teams both locally and globally
Root cause analysis experience and problem-solving skills
Experience in project execution to targets
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to prepare and present technical reports.
Willingness to work extra hours and outside of core business hours as needed to accomplish critical tasks in multiple time zones
Ability to work independently with little supervision and guidance
