As an Application Engineer you would analyze customer requirements and develop proposals that best meet the needs of our customers through the use of our products, all while earning a competitive base salary and full benefit offerings for a well-rounded total package for the right individual.
Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
Prepare accurate and complete quotations & proposals for products such as: knife gates, slide gates, and special fabricated knife gates at proper price levels within current pricing policies.
Check to ensure that proposals are accurate, complete, and definitive. Read product specifications.
Ensure that the proposals are received by the proper parties on a timely and accurate basis to satisfy bid deadlines.
Meet the intent of the customer's specifications by applying the Company's products to best advantage, while at the same time protecting the Company's interest.
Coordinate with the manufacturing plants order inspection, when warranted. Advise National Sales Manager of situations which may require attention. Must be willing to follow different processes in order to ensure full customer and company satisfaction.
Assess and address external customer needs by providing stock checks, expedites, technical support, order history-tracking shipments, order entry and product applications/limitations.
Provide support needed to resolve customer complaints and issues including all paperwork and follow up until process is complete.
Support and act as liaison between outside sales representatives/customers and various manufacturing locations. Work closely with Planners and Manufacturing Department Heads to provide current information on expedite requests and lead times.
Engage in opportunistic and add-on sales activities, including developing custom designs of the aforementioned equipment to coincide with regional market needs.
Carry out additional job responsibilities and duties as required.
Must be customer-oriented and have the ability to make quick decisions in a professional and confident manner.
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Willingness and ability for limited and scheduled travel. Travel is estimated to be 15% or less for transitional training and customer/plant visits.
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business, engineering, communications, technology, or sales-related discipline.
Familiarity with database programs such as Outlook and Excel.
Two or more years inside sales or customer service experience
Two or more years in the knife gate industry
Intermediate computer experience with ability to quickly learn and navigate new computer programs.
Strong experience in mainframe programs that include inventory control - such as AS400/JD Edwards (JDE).
Experience with phone-based customer service support systems.
