What do you get to do in this position?

Responsibilities:

  • Review, develop, present and support OEM machine control systems within the defined scope.

  • The Sr. Application Design Engineer performs a wide variety of technical assessments and development activities related to OEM customer applications.

  • Consultation on the application of MachineStruxure and Schneider Electric Industry business unit automation and control solutions.

  • Developing focus segment related business by developing application solutions architectures for customers and sales team.

  • Supporting customers with development, implementation and integration of Schneider OEM automation and control solutions.

  • Leads specification, design, analysis and development of engineering projects within defined scope.

  • Testing and development of proof of concepts of industrial automation product architectures with SE products based on customer opportunities.

  • Developing technical documentation, including bill of materials, User's Requirements Specifications, Detailed Design Specifications, Factory Acceptance Tests and electrical schematics.

  • Providing customized application training to customers on the MachineStruxure platform

This job might be for you if:

Qualifications:

  • Ability to program PLC's and Motion Controllers with IEC 61131-3 standard programming languages. Motion systems must be reviewed for system design and sizing. Configuration of HMI applications and Variable Speed Drives as parts of a solution package is required.

  • A working knowledge various communication protocols to include: Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, Sercos.

  • Experience with industrial automation applications in targeted material working, material handling, packaging and pump control applications preferable.

  • Work experience with the following industrial segments is also a plus: robotics, packaging, safety systems and machine controls.

About the job: Support the TI DLP® Products automotive, Pico, and projection markets with optical reference designs and proof of concept prototypes. Interact with hardware and software design teams to assist in overall development of the optical system. Tasks include designing, specifying, selecting, and qualifying optical components. System design areas include projection, 3D scan, light field augmented reality, 3D printing, spectroscopy, auto headlight and head-up displays (HUD). Initial focus is on expanding automotive applications in China, Europe, and Japan. Automotive applications include "Smart" headlight and AR HUD. In this role you will be creating and/or evaluating new design concepts from TI and customers, and providing performance, tolerance, efficiency, and design for manufacturing analysis and feedback. Develop troubleshooting skillsets needed to distinguish optical system issues from electronic system issues and recognize solutions. Training for DLP optical system support and troubleshooting will be provided. Prepare presentations and technical data packages for delivery of new and existing reference designs to customers. Frequent travel to customer sites in Asia to develop next generation of applications is required. Responsibilities: Primary responsibility to support business development priorities and growth in Asia markets for DLP products in the area of optical design and system analysis and support. Secondary responsibility will be to work with all DLP business units to develop applications to target new areas and markets. Complex Tasks: Optical system performance analysis, optical system design and stray light analysis using optical design tools, opto-mechanical hardware analysis and troubleshooting. Management/Organizational Skills: Be able to work effectively with all levels of DLP management including field offices. Effectively handle multiple tasks and set priorities, and thrive in a dynamic environment while meeting serious market window opportunity deadlines. Team and People Skills: Must be able to communicate and work well in small teams, prepare presentations appropriate to audience, and be able to represent the face of DLP/TI with direct and timely communication to customers as well as internal supervision. Pro-active in acquiring information needed to perform tasks. Projects and Deliverables: Optical reference designs; analyze, evaluate and assist customers to bring product and prototype systems together. This includes solid state LED, Laser illumination and projection systems.
