The Senior Technology Engineer uses his/her specialized knowledge to plan, design, develop and test new systems from product enhancements to new offerings. The Day-to-Day

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for managing and maintaining the Oracle database environments from an EBS Application DBA perspective and Vertex application

  • Provide support for service start/stop for patching

  • Monitor and maintain the health of the EBS application environment, including monitoring of the Concurrent Managers, Workflow Manager, long-running processes, etc.

  • Monitor and maintain the health of the Vertex application environment, including GUI availability and monthly Vertex tax update data

  • Fulfill a 24/7 on-call function on a rotating basis

  • Be able to cover US core working hours on 08:00 EST to 17:00 EST

  • Troubleshooting and investigation of production system problems

  • Proactively identify improvements and enhancements to systems and processes

Experience

  • Proven experience in the support of Oracle databases in financial services, specifically E-Business Suite

  • Experience of complex online applications and/or the finance industry

  • Demonstrable track record in delivering work to schedule and specification with minimal supervision

  • Experience of highly available complex online systems

  • Carry out investigations and analyses into relatively complex problems in order to provide solutions for the business

Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in a working environment with:

  • Oracle E-Business Suite Application DBA
  • Oracle Database 11gR2 -- 12c
  • UNIX/Linux shell scripting
  • SQL & PL/SQL development skills

Proficient experience with Vertex application

Responsibilities Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains company database(s): Creates database design specifications based on understanding of business transactions. Creates database objects (tables, etc.). Creates and maintains database definitions and tables. Designs, codes, tests and implements custom database scripts and formal procedures. Ensures data integrity; recommends action to maintain data integrity; establishes process / procedures for ongoing data cleanup. Monitors and maintains databases for proper performance tuning. Designs, implements and maintains data retention and archival; plans for storage needs, retention, backup and recovery. Designs, implements and maintains database security. Assists in identifying and resolving database problems. Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process. Designs and writes codes for database access, modifications and constructions, including stored procedures. Develops cloud solutions involving Azure SQL DB implementations for applications and/or Azure DW for Business Intelligence Develops ETL packages for the enterprise data warehouse and other data integration activities May lead small, less complex projects May be responsible for addressing security related items. Remains informed on trends and issues in the industry, including current and emerging technologies and practices both in on prem and cloud databases May participate in indoctrinating interns and / or new employees. Qualifications Minimum 2 – 5 years related experience monitoring and improving databases for proper performance, security, backup and replication procedures in a corporate environment with multiple locations required. Preferred experience includes: a. SQL Server: → Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, Replication and Clustering or workload management on cloud SQL servers→ 2016 security implementation and management b. MySQL and Oracle DB d. Systems Development, including design and coding → physical and logical database design f. Server and database-level performance tuning h. IP networking, Active Directory knowledge Ability to implement and maintain simple to moderately complex databases. Ability to understand and diagnosis situations in a time sensitive manner. Must be detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively. Requires a professional demeanor with a high degree of flexibility, responsiveness and self-direction. Work is typically focused on short-term objectives (6 months or less) and reviewed frequently for assessment and direction. Ability to participate in a 24/7 rotating on-call coverage is required. May consult on non-routine issues with more experienced staff. Requires effective communication skills to convey status, ideas and concepts in a team environment. Demonstrates working knowledge, practical skills and the ability to perform work under moderate supervision. Ability to resolve database problems for all environments.
