The Corporate Technology (CT) organization develops applications and provides technology support for corporate functions across JPMorgan Chase, including Global Finance, Corporate Treasury, Risk Management, Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, and all functions within the Corporate Administrative Office (CAO). CT teams are aligned with corporate partners' evolving technology needs and the firm's ever expanding technology controls agenda. A top CT priority is building scalable corporate systems. Teams focus on:

  • Responding to the evolving regulatory environment and helping to meet the firm's regulatory commitments by addressing internal and external commitments

  • Advancing the firm's Roadmap programs -- Single Sourcing of data, Architecture Convergence, and Rationalization of Platforms

  • Adopting industry leading technologies to support best-in-class business capabilities for high performance computing and data storage solutions

  • Driving innovation across the firm's corporate technology portfolio, increasing efficiencies through process automation, and Agile application development, with an emphasis on user experience and shorter development cycles

  • Investing in security & controls for cyber, access/entitlements uplift, data protection and application resiliency

Our Team

The Strategic Reporting team supports business intelligence, reporting and related functionality across Global Supplier Services and is planning to expand across additional areas within Corporate Technology. Overall, our goal is to advance modern business intelligence, reporting and analytic disciplines across CT in order to:

  • Achieve the GT Vision of Optimizing Infrastructure, Rationalizing Applications, Accelerating Development, Adopting the Cloud and Advancing IT employees

  • Sustained product and service innovation

  • Champion rapidly evolving innovative technologies

  • Participate in the firm-wide forums on Data Management, Big Data & Analytics, Machine Learning, Robotics and Micro-Services

  • Support Agile and product centric delivery models

Role Description

The successful candidate will deliver high quality reporting solutions that address business needs by developing data models and architecting database/ETL designs for the various software applications and platforms. The candidate will have experience working with key business stakeholders to understand the short term and long term business goals and with various data sources (external and internal) to understand the data landscape to be able to meet the business goals. They will design the optimal solution to address the business goals working with team leads and the development team across different geographies. They have a proven track record of strong communication and people skills as well as have experience working in a structured and agile software development lifecycle. The candidate will also have experience with analytics, reporting, selecting and integrating third-party software products, information architecture and data management/data engineering/data governance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Strong understanding of overall development lifecycle including requirements/user stories, analysis, design, modeling, development, quality assurance and support.

  • Contribute to and ensure that the team delivers towards key milestones to support our overall GSS team objectives

  • Suggest potential adoption of innovative methodologies or tools that enable rapid delivery.

  • Generate innovative ideas to deliver business value, improve efficiency and reduce cost.

  • Cultivate an open, honest and transparent environment that encourages proper collaboration between business & Technology teams

  • Build out strong relationships with the interfacing application development teams, both upstream and downstream as well as other support teams

  • From a technical perspective, drive root cause on all incidents by partnering with application development (upstream & downstream) and support teams to resolve gaps and provide permanent that avoid repeat occurrences

  • Drive the definition of the overall application architecture and solution design process

  • Work with Business, Architects and System Analysts to fully understand the business requirements and translate them into Conceptual, Logical and Physical models

  • Transform logical data models into physical database designs while optimizing the performance and maintainability of the physical database

  • Perform data analysis, discovery, profiling and identify cause of data issues and work with broader team to resolve them

  • Promotes data modeling standardization, defines and drives adoption of the standards

  • Maintain, publish and promote usage of data dictionary and metadata about data models

  • Partner with development and QA teams to communicate the business rules, data models and ensure test cases target the quality and integrity of the data model

  • Lead design reviews of data deliverables such as models, data flows, and data quality assessments

  • Lead and guide a team of DB/ETL developers to deliver high quality solutions in an Agile environment

  • Hands on SQL/PLSQL experience to be able to contribute to development of data warehouses/data marts

  • Proficient in database and SQL performance tuning

  • Provide support to the team in analyzing production defects and recommending the right solution

  • Strong knowledge and hands on experience with multi-disciplined technology skills encompassing some or all of the following

  • Database knowledge Oracle or SQL Server

  • Data warehousing and ETL concepts and Informatica knowledge

  • Cognos, Tableau or Qlikview or similar BI/Analytic tools

  • Unix (RedHat Linux) skills including Unix Shell Scripting ksh, perl, bash, python etc

  • Exposure to Big Data concepts , HADOOP , HBase, etc a plus

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent

  • 10+ years of Information Technology experience

  • 7+ years of experience in applying data management principles and industry standards to design, build and maintain complex data model in Transactional, ODS, Data Warehouse and Data Mart applications

  • 2+ years of Application Architecture related experience or equivalent

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and facilitation experience with business stakeholders to understand organization data needs and capture data requirements

  • Advanced skills in ER design, dimensional design, etc. and experience with a data modeling tool (ERwin, ER/Studio)

  • Experience in data profiling, analysis, and mapping, creation and usage of metadata

  • Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server databases and writing SQLs

  • Experience with Business Intelligence platforms such as IBM Cognos, Tableau & Qlikview

  • Experience with ETL tools like Informatica, Data Stage, etc.

  • Experience in delivering solutions using Agile and Iterative methodology

  • Experience with metadata management discipline and practices

  • Strong analysis and deep problem solving skills.

  • Experience in vendor teamwork and working with onshore and offshore partners

  • Experience in managing a small to medium size team

  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter, and within a team environment. Comfortable in a fast dynamic environment with an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
