Job Description:

Tutors will work one-on-one or in small groups with individuals in Information Systems Technology. Tutors will help students understand and apply underlying principles and help them develop critical thinking skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1. Knowledge of subject matter being tutored 2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 3. Knowledge of basic file management 4. Knowledge of higher education, its students, programs and courses 5. Knowledge of student-centered tutoring strategies 6. Knowledge of Owens Community College Information Systems and Computer Programming courses, web design, computer programming languages, software and hardware is a plus.
  
  

• Strong interpersonal communication skills. Excellent computer skills.

• Candidate will need to multi-task and collaborate with others. The candidate will need to be able to understand the texts, software and teaching tools being used and the assignments being made to the students. The candidate must be willing and able to complete accurate documentation on tutoring activities.

Essential Functions:

• Candidate will work one-on-one or in small groups with students to help students understand and apply underlying principles and help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Candidate will prepare for tutoring by becoming familiar with textbooks, software, and teaching tools used in courses.

• Candidate will thoroughly and accurately document tutoring sessions to support reporting requirements.

Minimum Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree - Bachelor's Degree in Computer programming, Information Systems, Databases, Network Administration, Web Design. Systems/Information Technology OR *Bachelor's in Business with emphasis in Information Systems/Information Technology, AND 3+ years of relevant experience in the subject area may be considered *Possess current expertise in one or more of the following: VB, C#, HTML, XML, Java, JavaScript, Perl/CGI scripting, SQL, Active Server Pages, Networking, Information Assurance, Microsoft Office, Project Management.

• Must have a minimum of a second-year student in college or university with major in Computer Science, System. Administration, Computer Programming, Computer Networking, Information Systems, Informatics, and Actuarial.

• CISCO licensure, CompTia licensure, Oracle licensure, Microsoft licensure
