About the Role
Our team builds the 'connective tissue' across marketing, product, and support workflows. We believe that defining core experiences around a unified information architecture and strong design standards empowers customers to get maximum value from AppDynamics, and helps AppDynamics scale.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, you will have the opportunity to take best-in-class consumer capabilities and apply them to a B2B model, in an agile environment. This role requires someone who is passionate about user experience, and believes they can translate customer pain points into workflows that are simple, easy, and fun to use.
As Senior Product Manager, you should understand how our users engage with and learn about the best ways to use our product (in trial or paid mode), as well as troubleshoot and solve issues that may come up. Initiative and curiosity are critical to this role to validate assumptions about user personas with various types of testing. You will work with cross-functional teams to define and ship experiences to meet these needs. You will:
Develop empathy for our customers and internal teams so that you understand their needs. Take these inputs, synthesize a clear product vision and roadmap from them, then evangelize and consistently execute against the backlog, in close collaboration with legal, sales, finance, services, support, product, marketing and operations leaders.
Conduct an audit of the state of our product suite (experiences and usage), as well as products provided by other industry leaders, and use this analysis to understand how we can continue to improve.
Balance the various demands of the organization and its customers as you prioritize your backlog. Drive execution of the backlog, by translating use cases and requirements into well-documented user stories and acceptance criteria, and partnering with colleagues across the organization to get things done.
Define success metrics for your product, track progress, and build plans to act on analysis.
Contribute to making the product development processes more effective.
You are passionate about product management and customer experience in B2B context, and are intrinsically motivated by your work. You have the confidence and knowledge to independently own your product end-to-end. You understand the business and the analytics/metrics that drive success. You are detail oriented, highly analytical, resourceful, team oriented, and will have an ability to work under time constraints to meet deadlines.
5+ years of Product Management experience, with a consistent record of shipping software in a high growth company and building great end-user experiences that deliver real value without complexity.
Technical or business background (Bachelor's degree), and can represent the product perspective in technical discussions regardless of your major. MBA a plus.
Understanding of pre- and post-purchase experiences for an enterprise customer. This includes trial and onboarding workflows, information architecture, in-product and standalone help/support experiences such as online documentation and training, community, and ticket management.
Demonstrated business savvy and technical skills, driving delivery of complex technology projects on time with little guidance/push. Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, providing timely progress/result reports to the right audiences.
Ability to articulate vision, roadmap, feature details, and project status and to various audiences (high level to deep low level technical).
Excellent oral and written communication skills, good judgment and instincts. Ability to collaborate with and influence other teams to get things done, with diplomacy and without formal authority.
Fluency with data analysis coupled with the ability to produce insights that inform strategic decision making.
Strong internal drive, a bias for action and ability to build internal champions across the organization.
