Overview:

Chevron is accepting applications for the position of Category Specialist

  • Catalysts, Chemicals, and Industrial Services located its Manufacturing facility in Pascagoula, MS. This position is responsible for the development and execution of short- and long-term supply chain strategies for services and materials used to support contracting and procurement of catalysts, chemicals, and industrial service work at Chevron's Pascagoula refinery. This position collaborates directly with the Manufacturing's Maintenance and Industrial Services (M&IS) and Catalyst/Chemicals Category Management team in support of the overall Category strategy for Chevrons Global Manufacturing business unit. It is responsible for incorporating those overarching strategies into the local contracting plans.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Experience in Category Management and Contracting processes. Fluency with Category Planning, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management as well as Contract Planning-Administration.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in the development of category strategies across near and long-term milestone time horizons.

  • Gleans new ideas, processes and tools from external sources for continuous improvement to projects. Brings innovation and positive business change from suppliers.

  • Effective with supplier issue resolution by coordinating joint efforts between finance, legal, suppliers and affected business partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Minimum 5 years Category Management, contracting, negotiating or buying experience with strong analytical ability.

  • Experience in Category Management and Contracting processes. Fluency with Category Planning, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Management as well as Contract Planning-Administration. Demonstrated ability to collaborate in the development of category strategies across near and long-term milestone time horizons. Gleans new ideas, processes and tools from external sources for continuous improvement to projects. Brings innovation and positive business change from suppliers. Effective with supplier issue resolution by coordinating joint efforts between finance, legal, suppliers and affected business partners.

  • Ability to communicate and influence all levels of personnel (including senior management); Ability to negotiate win-win solutions with third-party suppliers.

  • Effective communication and influencing skills to manage relations with key refinery stakeholders, extended category network members and suppliers. Demonstrated ability to build team consensus and ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline collaborative environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and manage performance an influence model. Networks effectively within the functional (procurement - supply chain) environment as well as with internal stakeholders to accomplish goals.

  • Knowledge and experience in Manufacturing or similar operations environment. Understanding of the category imperatives in the areas of safety, reliability and cost effectiveness. Understanding of the needs and expectations of key stakeholders and ability to translate them into complementary supply base strategies.

  • Ability to use personal and organizational skills to identify new, value-creating category and-or contracting strategies; and, influence stakeholders to endorse these ideas by linking Procurement initiatives to the achievement of overall business strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or Finance/Economics

  • MBA in Procurement / Supply Chain Management, or equivalent

  • Experience working in a refining, Oil & Gas Industry or Chemical Manufacturing facility.
