Do you have a passion for APIs and efficient, secure business process and governance? We at U.S. Bank are seeking an API business process analyst to help us create process and governance around our growing catalog of APIs.

The API business process analyst is responsible for defining processes and governance around the entire life-cycle of APIs, from design, to customer onboarding and production support. This position requires exposure to and understanding of how an API program works end to end at a large company. A passion for identifying inefficiencies and resolving them through the application of process is required.

The U.S. Bank Enterprise API team contributes significantly to enabling our customer-focused experience. We are the first bank to use mobile to open accounts and we are using our data intelligence to bring a next-generation, holistic experience to customers across U.S. Bank.

The top challenges for the team are delivering APIs for our rapidly evolving product, balancing development velocity with API consistency, and improving the architecture to handle the scale of 2.5 million daily customers conducting transactions through mobile, online and other digital channels. Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and outline the full lifecycle of an API

  • Create processes to streamline efficiency and meet business, technical, and security objectives

  • Present process ideas to stake-holders to obtain buy-in

  • Participate in implementation of new processes

  • Work with API Management Platform Team to create and refine API Governance

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 or more years of experience in project management, and computer technology applications and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience creating and applying business processes

  • 2 years of experience managing IT projects

  • 2 years technical writing experience (may include process documentation)

  • 1 Experience working with APIs (examples include design, testing, architecture, development, security, and management)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • High attention to detail and visual presentation

  • 1 years of experience with an API Management Platform such as Apigee or the CA API Gateway

  • 2 years of Agile experience

  • Excellent presentation skills and comfort presenting complex information to a variety of stakeholders

The API Technical Product Analyst is responsible for attending daily stand-ups and translating business requirements in the form of user-stories, into API specifications using the Swagger framework. Once the swagger file has been created, the API Technical Product Analyst will write test cases and then test the API the engineering team has completed development. Additionally, the API Technical Product Analyst will create API documentation for the developers who consume the API. Responsibilities: o Attend daily SCRUM standup meetings and provide input on the design of the API product o Serve as the bridge between the business team who create the API requirements, and the back-end development team who understand the back-end systems and data sources o Provide input during requirement capture and user story creation o Use a Swagger editor to create API design using Swagger framework o Review API design with Product Manager and API engineering team then make adjustments as-needed o Write test-cases for the API o Execute test cases for the API o Create API documentation for the developers who consume the API (API Security Guide, API Developer Guide, etc) o Assist Developer Support Team with defects during the testing phase U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
