POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Plan, direct, and lead all sales andsales training activities. Develop and implement a business strategy for therevenue and profitability for specified area. VIEW JOBS 12/6/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-06T00:00 District Purchasing Manager in Denver, CO Position Overview: Responsible for providing the leadership of the inventory investment and purchasing execution function for products maintained in district inventory. This will involve a balanced emphasis on increasing service levels to customers while increasing the turnover of inventory in multiple locations to a specified target. The indispensable ability to maintain and enhance superior relationships with, external and internal customers in conjunction with supplier approved by management will differentiate this position within Operations. Primary Duties: * Lead and mentor all personnel in the department to ensure they have been delegated adequate authority to carry out their responsibilities and objectives. Operate department within the general framework presented by district and corporate management. * Determine and utilize the most effective strategies to ensure the company receives the highest possible value for the total cost of acquisition. * Manage the company's day-to-day purchasing operations, including processing of user requisitions, research and selection of potential suppliers, negotiation of pricing and terms and issuance of purchase orders. Responsible for placing, tracking, delegating the placing of, and expediting all purchase orders. * Provide oversight and leadership of all direct purchase orders placed and in an effort to coordinate these shipments with stock orders for potential leverage of total spend dollars with stocking suppliers. * Establish and execute the district's supplier roster as established by and in collaboration with the district and regional management. * Work closely and effectively with the Regional Supplier Managers to improve the relationship with all core suppliers as defined by the approved supplier list and deploy the strategic plans with those firms as determined by district and regional management. * Coordinate activities of district purchasing, strategic purchase planning, and inventory management that support exceptional customer service levels. Create and adhere to a monthly purchasing schedule for all locations. * Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers that foster win-win negotiations and decisions. At a minimum, this would involve periodic account reviews and identification of opportunities for value improvement. Negotiate price, quality, service, payment terms, and returns of inactive material. * Keep informed of current market conditions by interviews with vendors, and relay relevant information along to management. Perform market analysis to identify supply/demand trends and opportunities. * Maintain an appropriate inventory level at all locations to fulfill customer orders without backorder and to achieve a minimum of 95%+ stock fill rate optimizing the inventory investment with 5 inventory turns within the assigned district. * Communicate with management team and vendors to determine product assortment, availability, pricing, and stocking. * Search for new products, and seek to improve negotiations with vendors. Look for opportunities in vertical and horizontal markets. Gain market preferences through account manager discussions and district strategy planning process. * Supervise the maintenance of a complete catalog file for all materials purchased. * Responsible for negotiating the return, or disposal, of all obsolete overstocked, and slow moving products. As well as managing the following processes: * --Non-Conforming Goods--Defectives-Consigned Inventories--Customer Supplied Product * Responsible for the ensuring the weekly cycle counts are performed to validate inventory. This requires the completion of 2 cycle counts through the entire inventory annually. * Attend training sessions on current and new methods of purchasing and inventory control. Supervisory Responsibilities: * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include assisting with hiring, interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications: * Individual must possess strong, comprehensive PC skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook products). Must have ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints and against deadlines. * In addition, must possess interpersonal and organizational skills, be a self starter, be detail oriented, and have the ability to communicate (verbal and written). * Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience an/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
