Job Description

Specific Responsibilities

As a global company, Gilead works with third parties all over the world, and we conduct anti-corruption due diligence review to ensure these third-parties can meet our legal and ethical expectations. This role will be responsible for supporting our due diligence program, which is a key part of Gilead's overall anti-corruption compliance program. The role will be based in Foster City, reporting to Senior Anti-Corruption Counsel in the Commercial Legal Department.

The successful candidate will help support the roll-out of our due diligence program to new regions and territories, and will have primary responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our due diligence process, including managing requests for diligence on new and existing vendors, compiling and analyzing metrics about the program, and serving as a resource to colleagues and business clients with questions and requests related to the due diligence process. The individual will work in close coordination with colleagues in Legal, Business Conduct, Finance, and other departments to complement existing compliance activities, and depending on the individual's interests and appetite, other opportunities are available within this role to support Gilead's compliance program, including through risk assessments, auditing and monitoring, and business conduct activities.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

  • Managing requests for diligence on new and existing vendors, including communicating with internal colleagues and third parties to gather all required information to complete diligence

  • Conducting first-level review of due diligence questionnaires and external checks to identify potential red flags or areas for further inquiry

  • Serving as a resource and point-of-contact for questions from internal colleagues and third party representatives going through due diligence

  • Assisting with the roll-out of our due diligence program to new regions and territories, including by helping to develop trainings and guidance documents for legal and business colleagues

  • Compiling and analyzing reports and metrics from our due diligence platform, and presenting results to colleagues, so that we can continually assess and adjust our risk-based program

Education & Experience

  • 35 years increasing responsibilities working in a Compliance or Legal organization

  • BS/BA degree required

  • Project management experience preferred

  • Awareness of and relevant experience with anti-corruption laws, such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), preferred

  • Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Skills Required

  • Leadership and project management in crossfunctional projects, and willingness to take initiative

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Detail-oriented and well-organized

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot charts, pivot tables, formatting, etc.)
