Anticipated - Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher with strong math skills to join our team for the 2024/2025 school year. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of special education needs, exceptional math teaching abilities, and the ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.

• Math Instruction: Deliver engaging and effective math instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to enhance learning and comprehension.

• Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular assessments to measure student progress, adjust instructional strategies as needed, and provide detailed progress reports.

• Classroom Management: Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, fosters a sense of community, and manages behavior effectively.

• Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, parents, and other stakeholders to coordinate and implement best practices for inclusive education.

• Professional Development: Stay current with the latest educational research, techniques, and trends in special education and math instruction through continuous professional development.

• Compliance: Ensure all activities and teaching practices comply with state and federal regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Mathematics, or a related field.

• Certification: Valid state teaching certification in Special Education. Additional certification in Mathematics is highly desirable.

• Experience: Previous experience teaching special education students, particularly in math, is preferred.

• Skills:

• Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP processes, and instructional strategies.

• Proficiency in delivering math instruction to students with diverse learning needs.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual student needs.
