Case Manager Special Education Teacher
Reports to: School Principal or Special Education Director
Supervises: Instructional Paraprofessionals
Job Goal: To make knowledge accessible to all students by developing their cognitive capacity and respect for learning. Foster students' self-esteem, motivation, and sense of civic responsibility.
Position Description: The Case Manager/Special Education teacher is responsible for designing, monitoring and providing direct instruction to meet the unique needs of students who are identified as having and educational disability and require special education services. This position will assist students in their assigned caseload gain the necessary academic and work related skills necessary to achieve the goals and objectives contained within their Individual Education Plan. The Case Manager/Special Education teacher will work collaboratively with parents, teachers, community agencies and other special education staff members to develop and implement students' Individual Education Plans.
The classroom teacher will meet all qualification and behavior standards as set by the State of New Hampshire authority. In accordance with certification requirements and the performances expectations of the Raymond Public Schools, all classroom teachers shall meet the following employment criteria. Experience educating students with significant disabilities is preferred.
The minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
A valid New Hampshire Teacher's Certificate (applicable level-area endorsements preferred.)
A completed credential file that meets Raymond Public School standards
Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and /or student teaching experience by the State Board of Education
Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present written documents that are clear, concise and grammatically correct.
Ability to work cooperatively as a team member; well organized; positive personality; flexible; creative; good problem solver; intellectually curious.
Interview/file data will include evidence of sensitivity and respect for others and verification of the demonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for youth
Regular and predictable attendance is essential
Summary of Essential Functions
Design, implement and monitor students' Individual Education plans and provide the supports and services needed to meet their individual needs and goals of the plan
Plans for and guides the learning process to help students achieve program objectives with classroom teachers
Implements useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures
Selects and uses effective instructional methods and learning materials
Establishes a cooperative relationship with all assigned students
Works collaboratively with colleagues and administration to achieve all the overall purposes of the school program
Work individually and in groups with students to provide remedial instruction
Schedule and supervise paraprofessional's responsibilities with students and their performance.
Meets with students, parents, community agencies, employers, teachers, paraprofessionals, and guidance counselors to:
Develop Individual Education Plans
Develop schedules for instruction, consultation, service and work related experience
Identify appropriate courses, instruction and work activities
Monitor and modify Individual Education Plans, as necessary
Collaborate regarding students' progress
Communicate concerns regarding students' performance
Provide consultation and information to the Raymond community and school district administration ad staff on the unique needs of identified students' educational disabilities
in a normal workday, employee may be required to combine standing, walking , and sitting continuously at a desk, keyboard, for several hours, can bend frequently, in-frequently, squat, kneel, lift up or carrying up to 15 pounds, reach above shoulders.
