Anticipated Openings - Special Education Elementary Teachers (Gr. Prek-5)

Dedham Public Schools is looking for talented educators to fill multiple Special Education positions for the 2024-2025 school year.

Candidates must hold a Massachusetts Special Education License (Moderate and/or Severe). Dual certifications and prior classroom experience preferred.

Responsibilites include:
plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences through the District curriculum
establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
use relevant technology to support instruction
observe and evaluate student performance and development
provide appropriate feedback on work
encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
prepare required reports on students and activities
manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
collaborate with Special Education and Regular Education support staff
Qualifications:

Master's degree strongly preferred
Massachusetts Special Education Certification and Licensure
Experience with students with Language-based Learning disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities and Executive Functioning challenges
Specialized reading training- (Wilson Reading /Orton-Gillingham)
Successful completion of QBS/SafetyCare training preferred.
Successful experience as a special educator including performing assessments using a variety of standardized protocols.
Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, parents/guardians, and others in the delivery of effective services.
Strong behavior management skills
