Anticipated Opening: Student Success Coach (11 Month Position)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• New Jersey Teacher Certification.

• Encompass creative problem solving capabilities.

• High level of interpersonal, written and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.

• Demonstrated experience with diverse populations in a multicultural environment that is committed to diversity and equality in education.

• Spanish speaking preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Dedicated to helping students to get the most out of their high school experience.

• Work with students in the following areas to help maximize their high school experience: Improving effectiveness in and out of the classroom, Ccnnecting students to higher education opportunities, boosting self-confidence and developing goals for the future, exploring academic and personal skills and exploring interests and career opportunities.

• Provides individual coaching for students to assist in their academic planning, career planning and provides support through community outreach students.

• Assist in the college application and financial aid application process.

• Encourage and assist the efforts of struggling students to join and maintain participation in school clubs, sports programs and community service organizations.

• Counsel students on career exploration in collaboration with the MHS College & Career counselors.

• Plan and coordinate local college tours/visits, most specifically HBCU/NHCF.

• Provide a structured, collaborative approach with the MHS school counseling staff to support academic progress.

• Ongoing coordination of inter-district school/community mentoring programs

• Peer Group Connection Co-Advisor

• Coordinate and advise Peer Leaders through their mentorship of current and incoming 9th graders

• Coordinates and serves as the liaison between the County College of Morris and MHS for the College Promise Program

• Advisor to the District's Equity & Inclusion initiatives.

• Member of the MSD Equity & Inclusion Action Team.

• Support students with assisting in setting personal goals and connecting desired outcomes with current activities.

• Meet/connect with students frequently for academic coaching and to work through any issues/struggles the students may be having with their classes and/or getting connected to campus.

• Attend job fairs to recruit minority teachers/counselors to promote institutional equity and diversity.

• Develop reports and assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.

• Perform other duties to support the global initiatives of the district and most specifically the MHS School Counseling Department.

CONTRACT TERMS: 1.1 Position (200 day work year obligation)
