Job Title: Biology Teacher

Reports to: Department Chair, Principal
Applicants should demonstrate a strong command of curriculum and varied instructional and assessment strategies, while also exhibiting solid communication skills. Applicants should be able to develop positive and respectful relationships with students, supportive communication with families, and collaborate effectively and professionally with staff.
Ability to differentiate instruction and provide extra help in order to meet the needs of our diverse learners
Good classroom management
Knowledge of current Massachusetts Frameworks in Biology
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, monitor student progress and communicate student progress with parents
Work to promote the schools mission and a positive school climate
Contribute to ongoing curriculum development/mapping
Routine use of assessment data to inform lesson/unit design and implementation
Willingness and availability to provide extra help after school
Routine use of technology to support student learning
Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, particularly in the technical areas, to enhance curriculum and instruction in Biology as well as technical subjects
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
Appropriate MA DESE teaching license in Biology (9-12) or equivalent
SEI Endorsement
Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
Excellent oral and written communication skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience teaching high school Biology
Experience teaching in a vocational setting
SEI Endorsement
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (not limited to):
Prepare and deliver instructional lessons with clear and measurable outcomes in accordance with the District's expectations.
Use a wide variety of teaching techniques to support student learning.
Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Implement accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in educational plans (IEPs) and as needed to meet the learning needs of students.
Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward and to modify further instruction.
Maintain up-to-date grade books and manage electronic classroom systems/software in accordance with the District's expectations.
Use a computer and other technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom.
Provide students with support (remediation and enrichment) using a variety of strategies.
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson, and assessment design.
Participate actively in faculty, department, and other required meetings.
Set professional development goals, develop professional development plans, and participate in professional development activities that improve teaching practice
Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents, and the community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however, there may be occasions for after-school meetings (ex: Back to School Night).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch, and/or kneel. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school campus.
WORKDAY:
Workday is from 7:30 am to 2:40 pm. Work year as per Unit D contract.
The salary range is based on the Unit D Contract and placement on the salary scale by the principal is determined by relevant work experience, licensure, and educational level. Hiring is contingent upon successful CORI and Fingerprint Background Check clearance.
