Anticipated Liaison/Interpreter - Contracted Hours

Champlain Valley School District Anticipated Liaison/Interpreter - Contracted Hours CVSD is seeking candidates for an on-call position of a multilingual liaison/interpreter. To facilitate students and families of the Champlain Valley School District who come from multilingual backgrounds.

This role will help multilingual students access the regular instructional program. As well as educate, support, translate and interpret for parents of multilingual students. This role will help school staff communicate with as well as build relationships with multilingual students and their families.

The individual in this position will support the entire school district on call to schools as needed. This position reports to the Director of Learning & Innovation. The position includes the following responsibilities: ●Use native language to tutor students in their content area classes. ●Assist students with English language acquisition in their classes. ●Translate and/or interpret forms and notices, including report cards as needed, that go home to all students & their families. ●Support and work directly with school staff on all data-related responsibilities, to ensure data integrity, in various systems.

Troubleshoot and resolve data systems support issues. Includes training, creating documentation, and tutorials. ●Provide parents with cultural & linguistic interpretations of school events, parent meetings, IEP meetings as needed, parent teacher conferences and necessary phone calls. ●Adhere to strict confidentiality. ●Help parents fill out school related forms. ●Explain standardized test reports, report cards and other school materials ●Translate & record voice messages that go out to families. ●Supporting families with basic needs as needed, including connecting them with the school to address food insecurity, medical needs, internet service, housing issues, etc. and connecting them with federal offices such as Reach Up. ●Support students and families by collaborating with the School Resource Officer, Guidance Counselors, the IT department and other school personnel & outside organizations as needed. ●Collaborate with guidance counselors to support high school students with the college application process and job searches and deliver this information to families. ●Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Experience in K-12 education is preferred.
