District 214 is seeking an exceptional and innovative leader to serve as the Director for Student Services. This individual is tasked with overseeing and leading all student service functions and programs within the district. This role includes the coordination of 504 accommodation plans, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), counseling services, and career pathway advising, ensuring that each student receives the necessary support for their educational journey. The Director is also responsible for managing the articulation and registration processes, residency requirements, the district's talent development program, and the planning and execution of summer school programs. Through these efforts, the Director will work to ensure that student support services are equitable and free of racism and discrimination.

Specific Duties:

  • Collaborates with district and building leadership to ensure equity is infused in practice and remains at the forefront of efforts to disrupt inequities.

  • Collaborates with the district equity leadership team in support of the advancement of district goals and initiatives pertaining to equitable behavior support systems and fostering a learning environment free of racism and discrimination.

  • Develops and implements strategies, recommends policies, and evaluates district wide progress toward eliminating opportunity and expectation gaps among historically marginalized student populations.

  • Serves as the District Compliance Coordinator for Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Coordinates the development, delivery, and evaluation of all guidance and counseling services in the district including, software platforms and data collection for multi-tiered systems of support.

  • Assists schools, in cooperation with building and district administrators, to prepare and maintain an equity- driven master schedule that maximizes student opportunities that ensures students can graduate meeting district goals.

  • Leads program development and planning for the delivery of the district summer school program.

  • Provides guidance to the Associate Principal for Student Services District Leadership Team, coordinating with the designated DLT Coordinator to support an equity-driven student services program district-wide.

  • Assists schools, in cooperation with building and district administrators, with the implementation of an equity-driven course selection process for all students, including registration, residency and transfer requests, as well as the transitioning of eighth-grade students into the district.

  • Acts as a child advocate, mediator and/or advisor in cases where student rights are in question or building personnel need guidance and support.

  • Supervises the maintenance and retention of all student records in accordance with district/state/federal policy and reviews all subpoenas related to student records.

  • Administers district budget supporting student services programs in conjunction with Director of Grants.

  • Supervises and coordinates the delivery of the Student Services Outcome Based Curriculum.

  • Evaluates student transcripts for credit and serves as final appeal.

  • Understands, articulates, and coordinates compliance with all Board policies and procedures, state and federal mandates, rules and regulations related to the student services program.

  • Serves as liaison between buildings and district programs such as the Young Adult Education Program, Vanguard School, and Early College Center.

  • Serves as the homeless liaison for the district.

  • Collaborates and supports building teams to address individual student crisis situations.

  • Facilitates the placement, supervision, contracts and programming for all staff internship placements in student services.

  • Provides oversight and leadership to the District Talent Development Program.

  • Coordinates with Professional Learning to provide professional development opportunities to student services teams.

  • Serve as liaison to external agencies partnering with the District to provide social-emotional support and resources to our students and staff.

  • Performs other tasks assigned by the Associate Superintendent for Teaching & Learning.

Qualifications:

  • Presently hold a State of Illinois Professional Educator License with a special education and/or student services (counselor, psych, social worker) endorsement;

  • Dean of Students or building-level administrative experience preferred;

  • Knowledge of and experience in staff supervision and evaluation.

SALARY RANGE: Administrative Salary Grade Two - $148,168-$185,210; Plus Excellent Benefits Package

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Full year assignment
