Major Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Provide a thorough assessment and diagnostic for an individualized instructional program. • Develop and implement individualized physical education programs for students with disabilities, considering their specific needs, abilities, and goals. • Provide specialized instruction and services required to meet the unique educational needs of students with orthopedic impairments. • Adapt and modify physical education activities, exercises, and equipment to accommodate students with various disabilities, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility as appropriate. • Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students. • Maintain effective working relationships with parents, school personnel and other agency staff. • Assess and evaluate student progress in physical education, using a variety of assessment tools and strategies. • Provide guidance and support to classroom teachers and other staff members in implementing adaptive physical education strategies in their classrooms and activities. • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to understand the specific needs and abilities of each student and develop appropriate physical education plans. • Stay updated on the latest research, techniques, and trends in adaptive physical education, and incorporate them into teaching practices. • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences. • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress, assessments, and individualized education plans (IEPs). • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during physical education activities, following established protocols and procedures. • Support Unified Sports Events and Special Olympics as needed.

Requirements / Qualifications
Requirements: Credentials: A valid California Teaching Credential with the Adaptive Physical Education Specialist Authorization and Certification authorizing teaching services to orthopedically impaired students.

Conditions of Employment: Employees are required to submit to a Department of Justice background check and provide proof of freedom from tuberculosis and vaccination for measles.
