Position: Anti Trafficking Peer Mentor
Department: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries
Availability of Position: Immediate
Schedule: Monday- Fridays 9 am- 5 pm; some nights and weekends.
Reporting Relationship: Peer Coordinator
Salary/Grade: $21.00 per hour, 76, Non-exempt

Responsibilities
Description of Position: The Peer Mentor will provide intensive peer support to confirmed and suspected survivors of
human trafficking identified within the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. The Peer Mentor will develop and
facilitate groups with youth survivors of trafficking, provide culturally competent services as well as their lived
expertise to areas concerning substance use treatment, trafficking and/or commercial sexual exploitation. The Peer
Mentor will provide mentorship to youth survivors of trafficking identified through Philadelphia's WRAP court and
provide support with youth involved in DHS. The Peer Mentor will support the Peer Coordinator in developing The
Salvation Army's New Day to Stop Trafficking Program's peer/survivor leadership program.
Qualifications
Requirements: Peer Counselor OR Certified Recovery Specialist certification required; High School Diploma or GED required.
Two years experience in related field work. Lived HT experience. Must have an understanding of the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation.
Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services. Bilingual, Spanish/English, preferred. Driver's License preferred.
Must be computer literate and skilled in Word and Excel. Must be able to negotiate the Internet. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Must possess an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army
