We are looking for someone who is:

What you will typically be responsible for:
Helping the public process Return-to-owner transactions, adoptions, the intake of stray animals, and many other transactions on the computer
Assisting the public with the information and resources needed on animal-related problems or issues
Taking calls from the public, answering questions regarding laws, ordinances, animals at the shelter, reclaiming their pets, and numerous other issues that may arise
Beginning the animal surrender process with the owners. Communicate and contact owners through email and provide information and resources. Also, if necessary, process the surrendered animal and complete the necessary paperwork
Handling dog license sales at the counter
Working Tuesday through Saturday and possible flex hours

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.License: Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator's license. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the applicant process.

Other Requirements: The ability to type at a speed of not less than 40 words per minute from clear manuscript or printed or typewritten copy.
Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
Online Multiple-Choice Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the Online Multiple-Choice Assessment. The Online Multiple-Choice Assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. These may include but are not limited to reading comprehension, mathematical facility, attention to detail, and customer focus. (Weighted 100%).
Multiple Choice Test: Tentatively scheduled to take place via computer (remotely) from July 19th - 24th, 2024

CONVICTION HISTORY
After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
