Basic Professional level organizes special events, volunteer programs and animal rescue partners serving as primary liaison with representatives of outside groups for
preparation, planning and implementation. Works with Director and supervisors to secure appropriate allocation of staffing & resources to prepare and facilitate outreach & engagement functions & events successfully.
Organizes special events serving as primary liaison with representatives of outside groups for preparation, planning and implementation. Works with Director and supervisors to secure use of appropriate space and allocation of staffing resources to prepare for and facilitate events successfully (e.g. adoption events; Community Meetings; Employee Recognition events). Requests and purchases event supplies as needed. Serves as primary liaison for volunteers, and community rescue partners, coordinating training and work assignments with shelter staff.
Develops communications, talking points, presentations, and media releases on various topics for the Animal Resource Center. Gather, write and edit stories/photographs/videos for County newsletters, internet, intranet and social media sites. Support public outreach efforts, social media & marketing to promote the shelters public image and brand awareness (e.g., staffing information tables at various events, presenting to service clubs, meeting with members of the community, promoting events and programs).
Enters and retrieves information on computer (e.g., animal records), assists in general office operations (e.g., answers phones, provides information to public regarding licensing and dog control requirements), and operates portable two-way radio and uses various equipment to locate information (e.g., microfiche, computer terminal), maintains kennel inventory control.
Assists with care for sheltered animals, cleans and disinfects cages, selects animals for adoption & rescue, assists veterinarians with examinations, administers vaccines and medications to animals, transports animals to events, operates county vehicle)

Minimum Class Requirements
Completion of high school diploma; ability to read and write common vocabulary, one year of experience in animal care. Must have current valid Ohio Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
Two (2) years, experience coordinating events, supervising employees or coordinating volunteers. PREFER One (1) year, experience in animal care. -OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Requirements.
Training & Development
Must obtain ASP Baton Certification and Notary Public license within 1 year of hire date. Must maintain certifications and licensure.
