Position Purpose

For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.

Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and will receive full credit for the amount of time employed. A minimum of 15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE (must include all of the following):

  • Six (6) months paid animal feeding/care experience which must have included public contact.

OR

  • Six (6) months volunteer experience in an animal shelter/veterinarian clinic as an animal keeper or animal care attendant performing direct animal care.

AND

  • Six (6) months customer service experience.

LICENSE(S) and/or CERTIFICATION(S):

  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record

OTHER REQUIREMENT(S):

  • No Felony drug offenses.

  • No Animal cruelty convictions.

  • Subject to extensive walking and bending.

  • Subject to inclement weather conditions.

  • Availability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.

  • Must pass physical exam including drug/alcohol testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY(IES):

  • Basic PC skills.

  • Ability to lift/carry at least fifty (50) pounds.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced/high stress work environment.

PREFERENCE(S):

  • English/Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.

  • Experience in an animal shelter/veterinarian clinic a plus.
