Job Summary

Cares for the animals used in research and development studies. Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records.

Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment. Responsible for bio-safety and bio-security of the animals. May partner with pre-clinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, post-op care and monitoring of animal studies.

If interested, please send Cassie Jimenez an email at [ Link Removed ] . Apex Systems has an immediate need for Animal Care Technicians in the Dixon area. This is a great opportunity to gain some experience in the biotechnology industry! Job Summary This position is responsible for assisting with cage washing and animal care duties. You will perform cage washes and cage changes as well as monitoring and documenting health issues. Job Responsibilities * Cleans and sanitizes all animal caging and accessory equipment and maintains the cage washing area in a clean, neat and well-organized manner following approved SOP's. * Disposes of biohazard waste materials in a safe and thorough manner as required. * Maintains facility equipment and performs routine preventative maintenance on cage washers, including routine inspection of cleaning filters. * Animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of animals, to include but not limited to: * Perform daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks * Provide appropriate food and water * Perform cage changing adhering to strict bio hood procedures; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified LAR policies utilizing a company issued iPAD * Maintain accurate room maintenance records as required by LAR's SOPS and/or policies * Dispose of animal carcasses following established procedures. * Strictly follows all procedures necessary to maintain animal housing areas, including room or facility personnel entry; personnel protective equipment use, spraying in all equipment and materials into controlled areas. * Receives, inspects and puts away incoming animals; ensures and provides for sentinel animals in each rodent housing area. * Operates equipment and uses supplies according to safety guidelines; performs general housekeeping and adheres to safety procedures. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED required Experience: Previous experience performing housekeeping/sanitization duties, safe handling of chemicals, detergents and disinfectants according to MSDS guidelines and working with large industrial equipment, especially cagewash equipment, preferred.
