Assist in the delivery of non-narcotic medications to the OR, CRNA's and other OR medical staff during procedures. This is accomplished as a non-interruptive single task from one point to the other.
POPULATION SERVED: Serves all patients across the age continuum with the exception of neonates
Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, instruments and supplies needed for anesthesia cases.
Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.
Practices, endorses and provides customer skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
Demonstrates knowledge and respect of the patient's right to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality.
Communicates and participates in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the RN, CRNA and Anesthesiologist.
Ensures non-narcotic medications are available for the CRNA, RN and Anesthesiologist in the operating room suite while minimizing the diversion of medications.
Ensures intubation equipment is set up for each case and assists the MD or CRNA when necessary.
Ensures anesthesia carts are stocked and clean.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
BCLS certification required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED
Anesthesia Tech experience preferred.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and write basic English. Knowledge of body substance isolation. Ability to listen, empathize, and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs. Knowledge of basic anesthesia principles. Knowledge of handling non-narcotic medications in a non-diversionary manner.
