Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Anesthesia Technician I ensures the availability of supplies for the provision of anesthesia services.

  • Sets up, stocks and maintains specialty carts and machines, anesthesia agents, and IV fluids, including the exchange of medication trays.

  • Maintains equipment and related supplies in aseptic condition.

  • Cleans and disinfects contaminated medical equipment, retrieves medical equipment and devices from other areas of the hospital.

  • Follows federal, JCAHO, and organizational guidelines for sterile techniques and infection control.

  • Provides towels and sheets used in procedural set ups.

  • Attends in-services, seminars, or related educational programs.

  • Follows quality assurance procedures in the course of daily activities.

  • Assists with the training of new employees.

  • Sets up inventories, and re-stocks specialty carts after each use.

  • Maintains an adequate supply of commonly used items.

  • Disinfecting of Equipment -- Responsibility Description: Cleans and disinfects contaminated anesthesia machine, monitor, cables and other key medical equipment. Minor Equipment Setup -- Responsibility Description: Attach accessories such as breathing circuit and suction to anesthesia machine.

  • Prepare emergency airway equipment.

  • Anesthesia Turnover and Stocking -- Responsibility Description: Sets up, stocks and maintains specialty carts and machines, anesthesia agents, and IV fluids, including the exchange of medication trays after each use.

  • Inventory -- Responsibility Description: Stocks supplies and returns items to departmental storeroom upon receipt. Maintains an adequate supply of commonly used items.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and one (1) year of healthcare related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium):

20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Description Anesthesia Technologist II, 3:00p to 11:30p, call required JOB DESCRIPTION: * Performs all duties as an Anesthesia Technician I and II, including set up and support of equipment in all anesthetizing locations, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring lines. * Follows established procedures for equipment inspection. * Tests equipment to ensure that it remains in proper operating condition. * Performs lower level troubleshooting and takes corrective action to prevent hazardous situations. * Ensures the availability of expendable laboratory and monitoring supplies by inspecting inventories and initiating purchase requisitions. * Responds to emergency service requests made after regular working hours on a rotating basis. * Assists in transporting post-operative patients to the Intensive Care Unit. * Follows sterile technique principles and other infection control policies and standards to maintain a healthy work environment * Takes required precautions in keeping with JCAHO, organizational and other safety guidelines when working with electrical equipment. * Equipment Checks: Responsibility Description: Performs daily apparatus equipment checks. * Sets up and supports equipment: Responsibility Description: Ability to prepare the anesthesia machine for procedures in the operating room and offsite areas. Prep includes connecting pipeline gases and monitors correctly. * Performs lower level troubleshooting: Responsibility Description: Able to troubleshoot all anesthesia equipment such as machine, patient monitor, electronic medical record, intubating equipment and infusion devices. * Sets up and calibrate hemodynamic monitoring lines: Responsibility Description: Able to prep setup by purging free of air and calibrate before use. Performs related responsibilities as required.
