Registered nurse recognized by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. National Certification required.

Specific Job Related Duties
Assess patients medical history and how it might affect the patients response to anesthesia.
Assess the patients pain management needs prior to surgery.
Decide which drugs and techniques best fit the patients needs.
Educate the patient about the process to be used.
Give local, general or regional anesthesia as appropriate for the procedure.
Monitor the patients response during and after anesthesia.
Initiate emergency measures as needed if the patient reacts badly to anesthesia.
Keep detailed records of the medications given and the patients response.
Provide pain relief for women in labor.
Assist in the resuscitation of critically ill or severely traumatized patients.
Maintain current knowledge about new drugs and techniques as they become available.
Utilize the processes of assessment, diagnosis, management and evaluation to provide care that integrates the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient/family.
