Android UAT Tester

Long-term (1 Year+) Consulting Engagement

Location: Dallas, Texas

IMMEDIATE new job opening for an Android UAT Tester to join our team and work on-site at out client's HQ's based out of Dallas, Texas. The Android Tester will report to the Manager of Mobile Apps, and will be responsible for authoring test plans/cases/scripts, provide acceptance criteria, execution of the end-to-end Mobile UAT testing process including facilitation with participants, collection of feedback, report findings, prioritization of issues raised, and recommendations for deployment. The mobile platforms represent a significant portion of the Digital footprint and proper user acceptance testing is crucial to success.

Responsibilities:

o Perform acceptance testing for, and representing the perspective of Stakeholder and Customer

o Ensure mobile platform acceptance test coverage for all Android platform applications efforts

o Ensure proper mobile acceptance test case/script development

o Ensure proper acceptance testing/test case development

o Utilize User Acceptance Testing (UAT) tools and processes to ensure delivery of quality products that meet the needs of the brands and the online customers.

o Develop and execute user stories, acceptance criteria, and scenarios for acceptance testing in order to support the implementation of medium-large projects as well as small-medium product enhancement requests and defects.

o Support all digital quality items assigned and proactively seek out opportunities to improve quality.

o Adhere to policies and procedures that will improve the overall UAT operation and effectiveness.

o Communicate important and necessary information to outward team members via memos, reports and phone calls.

o Other duties may include regression testing of core areas and products, inclusion in Usability testing, and review and provide feedback of project documentation.

Required Skills:

o 3+ years of testing experience in native mobile applications, preferred Android testing experience.

o 3+ years of UAT & QA Testing

o Experience with API Testing

o Testing expertise of mobile applications particularly on iOS and Android mobile platforms

o Proficiency with automation testing technologies

o In-depth knowledge of QA/UAT philosophies, guiding principles and industry best practices

o Experience Mobile testing involving Bluetooth technologies

o Experience writing and executing test cases

o Experience with writing acceptance criteria

o Knowledge of UAT testing principles and understand the differences between QA and UAT areas of coverage and responsibilities

o Work with QuickBase is a plus

o Strong understanding of Agile delivery methods

o Experience in designing and executing both functional and non-functional tests (E.g., Performance, Security, etc.)

o Demonstrable awareness of business environments into which solutions have been delivered

o Strong technical awareness and understanding of Mobile architectures, preferred Android platform

o Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and leadership

o Experience in functional, system, user acceptance testing, cross platform compatibility and database testing

o Must be highly-motivated with a desire to achieve success through collaboration and teamwork, possessing the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience and people from other departments

o Ability to work independently with little supervision

o Ability to lead test activities on a project

o Education: BA/BS Bachelor's degree

o Ability to travel up to 30% as needed

Qualifications * At least 5 years of professional Android software development experience. * Demonstrated ability to deliver Android apps to Google Play. * Full proficiency in Java 8 and Kotlin, plus professional experience developing Android apps using Android Studio. * Solid understanding of memory management in a garbage-collected environment. * Experience with most features of the Android support libraries and popular third-party libraries, including RxJava, Dagger, Butterknife, Volley, Picasso, and OkHttp. * Experience with adaptable layouts, including extensive building of view layouts in resource XML and code. * Experience with the Gradle build system. * Knowledgeable about common backend system integrations and web services. * Experience with Git, including knowledge of branching and merging workflows. * Design-minded attention to user interface implementation. * Ability to be proactive, self-directed, and assume responsibilities without close supervision. * Firm grasp of multitasking techniques and potential areas of risk. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. * Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving work environment.
