The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring an Android Developer to support our best in class mobile products for our national brands including Newsy, Stitcher, and Cracked.com. We're looking for an experienced, creative, and passionate developer to join our team.
In this role, you will maintain and continually develop our mobile apps with new features and updates. You will need to pick up the current code base/s, understand it and take control of it, and even write new apps from scratch.
You must love mobile development and aspire to amaze users with beautiful screen transitions and phenomenal apps. Mediocre is not in your vocabulary and you aren't afraid to work hard alongside a small, talented and collaborative team. We are always stepping up our apps' functionalities and continually improving them to keep our users happy.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent work experience
Minimum of five years' experience in Android development
Three years technical experience in interactive media or other relevant online business is preferred
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent knowledge of the Android Studio
Database experience including Postgres and MySQL (queries, DDL)
Use of version control software for code, asset and configuration management.
Significant Linux experience
Must have broad, enterprise-class technical knowledge in areas of software application development, technical operations, information security, and business process architecture.
Experience performing in a Systems Assurance role to ensure the quality of systems either produced in-house or by another party.
Use of trouble ticketing systems.
Portfolio of apps you've built. It's a plus if you've developed and released apps on your own.
