Job Description

The Analytics Engineer is responsible for conducting detailed analysis of end to end energy storage market dynamics to support data driven business decisions. The role will focus on benchmarking energy storage technology as well as developing performance databases, comparative metrics, application evaluation tools, forecasting models and physical property models.

The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties: Perform special research for the end to end energy storage market. Develop complex databases to support forecast modeling and physical property modeling (reduced order - equivalent circuit). Collaborate with R&D to assess new technologies and complete business impact analyses based on these technologies. Collaborate with R&D and other business leadership to develop and deliver core analytics and metrics to effectively manage the business. Support a data-driven decision culture.


  • Ability to present complex data analysis information to technical and non-technical individuals.

  • Understanding of ROI.

  • Strong knowledge base related to ERP systems (SAP) and databases.

  • BS in Engineering or Science related discipline.

  • MS/PhD preferred.

  • 3+ years data analytics experience.

  • Chemical industry and R&D experience preferred.

  • Experience in Lithium/Energy Storage portfolio preferred.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of organization.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Mandarin, Spanish, or German preferred.

  • Ability to manage complex and multiple data inputs and manipulations.

  • Ability to interpret complex business data and determine critical trends.

  • Ability to solve complex problems through root cause analysis methods.

As a Data Analytics Engineer - Telematics you will be responsible for the development of data infrastructure, business solutions, and proof of concepts to help D3 achieve its mission in vehicle telematics and expand into emerging telematics spaces. This includes creating new and maintaining existing data acquisition processes end to end. You'll partner closely with business stakeholders across the enterprise to create the best technical solutions to meet their needs. You'll also be working with some of the largest data available today. To be successful in this role, you'll need to be a very strong coder with a well-developed ability to analyze the soundness of data. You do not need prior telematics experience. Key Responsibilities: * Utilize multidisciplinary approach to Data Analytic problems to combine technical, analytics and business knowledge. * Demonstrate high degree of analytic agility to meet fluid and dynamic business needs. * Break down business problems into solvable components to recommend solutions. * Use a wide variety of tools and languages to achieve results (e.g., Python, C++, Java, Scala, SQL, Kafka, APIs). * Rapid development of new data and analytics prototypes. * Develop and deliver data infrastructure to enable advanced analytics. * Explore data sources to better understand the availability and quality of data. * Document available data sources and how they are being transformed. * Embrace an environment that supports innovation and process improvement. * Disseminate knowledge across the team. Job Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or equivalent. Master's or PhD in these fields is a plus. * Ability to code and develop prototypes in languages such as Python, C++, Java, Scala, SQL * Familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem desired. * Experience with Bash or Korn Shell Scripting desired. * Familiarity with statistical concepts and related technology (R, SAS, Matlab) is a plus. * Demonstrated analytic agility and problem solving skills. * Ability and desire to learn new languages and technologies. * Strong attention to detail. * Solid written and oral communication skills. * Desire to share and inform others.
