Position Summary

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely testing of consumer products, reporting data, and writing technical reports.


Support Technical staff by providing timely and accurate test results and information.

Major Roles & Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of how to access the latest revisions of standards, protocols, and test methods, with direction.

  • Evaluate products submitted for testing for quality / safety issues, with direction from senior staff in a limited scope.

  • Prepares a variety of samples for testing using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards / specifications, in a limited scope.

  • Conducts testing or analyzes a variety of consumer products for basic bench analysis and limited analytical instrumentation using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards / specifications appropriate to the sample, in a limited scope.

  • Use and verify (if applicable) test equipment and instruments, and maintain record keeping system for calibration / quality system integrity with direction.

  • Maintain test equipment, supplies, lab cleanliness (and limited analytical instrumentation).

  • Accurately record test data per BV Quality guidelines.

  • Assist with department testing in other areas, with direction, as required.

  • Organizes and manages workload to meet or exceed laboratory turn around time and client expectations.

  • Assist in the technical and administrative aspects of various departmental projects as directed.

  • Accurately compile data, prepare and review written technical reports in a limited scope

  • Interface with senior staff for direction on interpretations pertaining to compliance and standards.

  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues in a limited scope with direction from senior staff.

  • Adhere to the requirements of the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Quality System.

  • Provide feedback to department manager regarding departmental systems, processes and recommendations for improvements and meeting department / quality objectives.

  • Follow the guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.

  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.

Additional Responsibilities for Technician II:

  • Evaluate test results data, with direction.

  • Interpret and apply industry standards within a limited scope and with direction.

  • Offer problem resolution, as applicable, for any client issues/questions identified, while aiming for enhancing client satisfaction and improving client relations.

  • Conduct verbal and written communications with internal clients regarding administrative and technical issues, with direction.

  • Participate with senior staff in client meetings / visits, when appropriate.

  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues in a limited scope.

Experience and Educational Background Required for the Job

Technician II:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years related experience; or
  • 2 year technical degree and 6-12 months related experience

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-14T00:00 Northrop Grumman Amherst Systems is seeking a Test Technician that has experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic systems. The selected candidate will perform 2nd shift test activities for components of Electronic Warfare simulation systems. Candidates will also perform assembly duties as required for workflow. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Test and troubleshoot RF products including RF Microelectronic, RF amplifiers, switches, mixers, etc. * Test and troubleshoot digital circuit cards. * Analyze equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in products and integrated test systems. * Diagnose non-conformances using schematics, wiring diagrams, source control drawings and other test procedures and equipment. * Remove, replace and/or repair problem components to resolve system issues as required. * Perform RF tuning on microelectronics, which requires working under a microscope for much of work day. * Perform maintenance or calibration on test equipment. * Record and ensure validity of entries into data collection and test systems. * Interpret and recommend corrective action to test findings. * Execute proper documentation of actions performed in applicable forms. * Assist in the writing or modification of test procedures. * Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. * Ability to learn tasks under microscope on very small assemblies with outstanding manual dexterity and precision. * Assist other functional team members with any associated tasks. MANUMS BUFMSTR Basic Qualifications: * 2 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree in an electronics field of study. * Hands-on use/experience with drawings, wire lists, source control drawings, or test procedures * Experience in the testing and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies * Ability to work overtime during spikes in work load * Ability to perform primary testing duties during 2nd shift with the flexibility to work 1st shift for training or as business needs dictate. * U.S. citizenship Preferred Qualifications: * Experience performing testing of RF components and preparing test reports * Experience in working with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers. * Experience interfacing with engineering teams. * Experience with soldering and electronics assembly processes. * Experience testing microelectronic components and performing tuning under a microscope. * Working knowledge of defense electronics, with a preference to EW systems. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Experience working in a performance based and metrics driven culture.
