The Maintenance Analyzer Technician at the Chocolate Bayou Site provides daily technical expertise and support relative to the Process Analyzer Systems which includes; ensuring proper functionality, troubleshooting problems, performing compliance audits, supporting reliability improvements, supporting project execution, utilizing maintenance procedures and supporting document control efforts.

TARGETED OUTCOMES

  • Maintain online analytical instrumentation through preventative and corrective maintenance.

  • Troubleshoot and repair issues that impair proper functionality of analytical systems.

  • Provide the required support needed to resolve non-scheduled priority jobs during normal and after hours.

  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis to discover and eliminate reoccurring failures.

  • Assist with identifying spare parts needed to reduce or eliminate equipment down time.

  • Recommend improvements to analyzer systems to increase performance and reliability.

  • Assist with updating and creating equipment specification sheets, equipment files, checklist and procedures.

  • Train and mentor less experienced Analyzer Technicians.

  • Provide support for capital improvements including scope development, factory acceptance testing, installation oversight, commissioning efforts and equipment start-up.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform inspections, maintenance and testing to ensure equipment functionality and reliability.

  • Utilize data collection historian to monitor functionality and predict potential failures

  • Identify and resolve failures.

  • Provide technical support to meet safety and production commitments.

  • Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance by performing inspections, maintenance and audits.

  • Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives

  • Willing and able to work extended hours to resolve critical equipment issues and to support site outages.

  • Maintain and develop procedures, guidelines and drawings needed to support analyzer installations.

  • Support Process Safety Management activities including PHA, MOC, SIS Testing, Incident Investigations, Alarm Management, etc.

  • Participate in incident investigations as a technical resource

  • Assist Analyzer Reliability Specialist to develop work scope, testing criteria and execution plans.

  • Utilize the maintenance work process to purchase material, execute repairs and record history.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Minimum (5) years as a Maintenance Analyzer Technician responsible for maintaining process analyzers, sample conditioning systems and communications architecture in a petrochemical facility.

  • Analyzer/Instrument Degree or Certificate, Apprentices or Progression Program, Military training in relevant technical fields, and Chemistry is a plus.

  • Knowledgeable in theory of operation and experienced performing troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining Sample Systems, Gas Chromatographs, Mass Spectrometers, CEMS, Paramagnetic Oxygen Analyzers, Infra-Red Analyzers, and other on-line process analyzers.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Able to utilize computer hardware and applications to perform all aspects of the job.

  • Strong understanding of electronic circuitry, analog and digital communications.

  • Troubleshooting techniques, maintenance repair experience, and capital project support (reviews, factory acceptance testing, installation inspections, and start-up support).

  • Take action, solve problems, attention to detail, self-starter and motivator of others

  • Able and willing to discover the root cause of a failure and then develop solutions to resolve

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated leadership, learning and development skills

  • Ability to effectively interface with manufacturing, engineering and other functions including contractors
