About you and this role

As the Analytical Manager, you work across multiple businesses and / or a site, hub or region using process chemistry and analytical knowledge, in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge and lab operations experience to identify, develop and implement optimum analytical solutions in support of process and product performance as well as Quality Control Lab and process analytical improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Selects and applies analytical technology and systems, in close cooperation with other technical resources, to improve process reliability, product quality and Quality Control Productivity in order to create value for global businesses.

  • At a functional level, provides the analytical technical link from the Analytical Technology Center to manufacturing and Quality Control Labs. Within a business, provides analytical expertise and testing coordination in support of Business R&D, TS&D, Quality, and other business initiatives.

  • Provides leadership and technical expertise for: Determination of product composition and properties; Problem prevention; Root cause or failure analysis; and Identifying, developing and implementing Most Effective Technology (MET).

  • Uses technical expertise and knowledge of businesses to prioritize project requests and define technical solutions for complex problems and strategic projects requiring analytical support and expertise.

  • Leads the development of new or novel analytical technology and methodology. Includes development, validation, qualification, and documentation of new or improved analytical methods to meet business needs.

  • Uses advanced statistical tools to monitor lab performance and data to identify opportunities for improvements. Leads implementation of lab improvements with business and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Provides expertise for high level troubleshooting and repair of analytical instrumentation. Trains and coaches others on analytical systems and technology.

  • Leads development of site, hub, regional, or business multi-year capital plans related to analytical testing plans and related instrumentation purchases or upgrades.

  • Represents Dow in external technology networks and venues. Provide analytical "know how" to Joint Ventures, Licensees, and External Manufacturers.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in science or engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant (PO2/Sgt) Military ranking required.

  • At least 5 years of laboratory, manufacturing, or related experience required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
