An Analytical Development Scientist job in Shawnee, KS, is currently available through Belcan. In this role, you will conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses in support of new veterinary product development and registration, and product maintenance activities.


  • Perform GMP testing of raw materials and finished products (in-process, release, stability)

  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and records per cGMP and SOP documentation requirements

  • Use MS Excel to organize and keep track of data

  • Initiate and resolve laboratory investigations and perform peer review of analytical documentation

  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Laboratory support activities including cleaning and calibration of instruments


  • BS/BA Chemistry, or related scientific discipline

  • Minimum 4 or more years of applicable experience in regulated R&D laboratory

  • Minimum 2 years of experience following cGMP regulations and guidelines (e.g., FDA, ICH, VICH, USP/NF)

  • Laboratory equipment experience to include HPLC, Karl Fisher, USP dissolution

  • Must be detailed-oriented, and familiar with GMP or GLP documentation requirements and with USP/NF testing procedures

  • Must be able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently

  • Must have good computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office


  • Experience with Empower 3 chromatography data system

  • Experience with dissolution testing of pharmaceutical dosage forms

Bayer Animal Health Senior Regulatory Scientist YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role, Bayer Animal Health Senior Regulatory Scientist are: * Identify key agency concerns as related to new registrations or approvals and post-marketing activities and requests (e.g., registration reviews); * Redirect/refocus of agency inquiries where appropriate based on clarification and provision of basic information; * Understanding of and familiarity with the resources necessary and available to respond to agency inquiries and provide necessary information (e.g., agency guidelines, internal report databases, literature searches, contract expertise); * Comprehension of various means available to provide information requested from a scientific perspective and skills to determine best fit for each individual query or project. Execute on appropriate approach which may include, but is not limited to, expert reports or white papers, risk assessments, agency meetings for discussion. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: * PhD or MSc degree in life science or DVM; * 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs with experience in one or more fields of regulatory toxicology (EPA, CVM/FDA, VDD, PMRA) including user safety; occupational, residential, dietary and drinking water exposures, and ecotoxicology/ environmental impact; * Strong verbal and written communication skills including technology potentially applicable to each (e.g., MS Word and Excel, PDF document management, electronic submissions); * The incumbent must possess expert knowledge of pertinent guidelines and federal regulations (GMP, GCP, GLP, VICH) under which products are evaluated. In addition, in-depth knowledge of the US regulatory environment as well as experience around direct regulatory agency interactions are required; * Integrity is a crucial qualification to assure credibility of all applications, responses, and interactions with the regulatory agencies; * Problem solving is an integral component of research and development. The incumbent must remain flexible and be creative as problems surface, making logical and timely recommendations for solving them and using his/her initiative to drive the solution home within the organization; * The incumbent must possess the ability to organize and manage more than one project at any one time while still demonstrating strict attention to detail. Knowledge of the ever-changing federal regulations under which all products are evaluated is essential; * The incumbent must be self-motivated and able to work and learn without direct supervision.
